Walk to beach and downtown! Great Lakes Getaway is a large and beautiful home that is truly in a spectacular and unique location! It's at the very end of luxurious Nipissing Street right on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan and Frankfort Beach. The home features gorgeous views of Lake Michigan from throughout the home including the living room, dining room, and 3 out of the 4 bedrooms! Features beautiful backyard deck facing the lake with outdoor dining and a gas grill. Perfect for a group or family getaway up north! INTERACTION WITH GUESTS: We have a local property manager that lives in the area and is available to address any issues or questions that arise. NEIGHBORHOOD: The home is in a incredible location for exploring the northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula! It is located at the end of beautiful Nipissing Street on the Lake Michigan bluff overlooking Frankfort Beach and Lake Michigan. It is a very high-end and safe neighborhood. There is a public walking path that goes down the bluff from the end of Nipissing Street to Frankfort Beach and Lake Michigan. (The path is somewhat steep and rugged and does not have much in the way of handrails. As such, it may be difficult for elderly individuals or young children.) The Frankfort Pier and the famous Frankfort Lighthouse are also just a short walk south along the beach from the house. The home is just a few blocks from charming downtown Frankfort. Downtown Frankfort has a growing array of shops, restaurants, cafes, a microbrewery (Stormcloud), and a vintage movie theatre (The Garden Theater). All of this is just a short walk from the house! The home is also conveniently located close to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Crystal Lake. These provide for a wide mix of hiking, exploring, kayaking, tubing, fishing, and paddleboarding activities in the midst of a truly gorgeous natural environment. The home is also only 18.2 miles (about a 25-minute drive) from Crystal Mountain Resort for skiing, snowboarding, and winter sports. Also, if larger-city things are desired such as lots of restaurants, great shopping, and lots of entertainment and nightlife options, the home is only an approx. 1-hour drive from downtown Traverse City, which has a wonderful collection of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. GUEST ACCESS: Guests have access to the entire home except for an owners' closet which is locked off. THE SPACE: The home has beautiful views of Lake Michigan throughout the home! The 4 bedrooms are all quite large and 3 out of the 4 bedrooms have great views of Lake Michigan! In addition to the 4 bedrooms, there is additional sleeping space on the lower level. The home includes high-speed Wi-Fi, live streaming television, and a large laundry room with a washer, dryer, sink, ironing board, and iron. In terms of the live-streaming television, the home includes use of a high-end Hulu live-streaming package (with 150+ channels), Pure Flix, Netflix, and Disney+. Outside, the home has a large outdoor deck overlooking Frankfort Beach and Lake Michigan. The deck has outdoor dining furniture, additional seating, and a gas grill. TRANSIT: There is public transit in the area via the Benzie Bus, but it is recommended that guests have their own means of transportation. Neither Lyft nor Uber operate in the area. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) THREE-LEVEL HOME: The home has 3 levels. Entry is on the lower level and it is necessary to climb a flight of stairs to enter the main level on which the living room, dining room, and kitchen are all located. As such, the home may be difficult for elderly individuals or young children. 2) PATH TO BEACH: There is a public walking path down the bluff from the end of Nipissing Street down to Frankfort Beach and Lake Michigan. The path is somewhat steep and rugged and does not have much in the way of handrails. As such, it may be difficult for elderly individuals or young children. 3) HALF-BATH: As shown in the photos, the half-bath on the lower level consists of just a small bathroom with a toilet. There is no sink or mirror in the bathroom. 4) PET POLICY: All pets are strictly prohibited at this property! 5) AIR CONDITIONING: The home does NOT have air conditioning, but, given it's proximity to the cool winds and waters of Lake Michigan, air conditioning is generally not needed at all at the property. 6) QUIET HOURS: For the sake of the neighborhood, guests are asked to keep things quiet outside from 10:00 PM until 8:00 AM. 7) PARKING: There is only space in the driveway for 2 vehicles. Cars can park in the street overnight from May through October, but guests are limited to only 2 vehicles from November through April since overnight street parking is not permitted from November through April due to public snow removal needs. 8) INDOOR FIREPLACE: The indoor wood fireplace is not to be used by guests due to safety concerns. 9) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Please note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Please make certain that the correct number of guests is specified on the reservation so that the pricing is correct. 10) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. We will not know until the day before arrival whether or not the property will be available for early check-in or not. You can check with our local property manager the day before arrival or on your arrival day to see if the property will be available for early check-in or not. 11) LATE CHECK-OUT: We maintain a very strict and structured cleaning schedule. Well stocked and perfect for family gatherings.The lake views were stunning! Every bedroom had lake views as well as the open living space. The bedrooms were lovely the only improvement that could be made is on the queen size beds. They were less comfortable than the double beds. The bathrooms were clean and well designed. The beach access and private deck area were awesome! Our entry information was easy and exit expectations were more than reasonable. This home is perfectly located to downtown shops and restaurants, within walking distance and for us near to our Michigan family. We have been to Frankfort many times but never in the fall. It is a must see time of year. We loved the family home atmosphere and history. Wish we could have stayed longer. There were nine of us, and the accommodation could not have been more ideal. The beautiful home is up the hill from the beach with magnificent Lake Michigan views and only a 10 minute walk to the charming restaurants and shops of Frankfort. There is spectacular hiking within a short driving distance to the north and south. Bikes, kayaks and SUPs are available to rent in downtown Frankfort at Crystal Lake adventure outfitters. We rode bikes one morning along the trails leading out of downtown. I believe the trail is 11 miles long, so it is a great trek out and back.We also had our daughter’s Australian Shepherd with us, and she enjoyed the small fenced yard and the hike down to the beach.
