It is known for salmon, brown trout, steelhead, smallmouth bass, and catfish. On calm days, locals like to fish from the north and south cement breakwater piers that reach way out into Lake Michigan. The Frankfort Tackle Box on Main St has bait, tackle, licenses and great advice. For salmon, lake trout and steelhead charters, I recommend Power Trip or Tiny Bubbles. Sitting on the dock at sunset was a highlight as were the nearby birding spots. Comfortable and clean, pleasant host welcomed us. It has a big bathroom, new furniture and a fully stocked kitchen. But my favorite part was the lovely lake with the beautiful view. I floated in a tube and used the paddle boards every day that we were there. The lake is crystal clear but the bottom is mucky so bring your water shoes. At night, we sat at the end of the dock and watched the sky change colors. The owners were friendly and helpful and gave us good restaurant recommendations. My family enjoyed the kayak, row boat and SUP. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway spot with a very cute and cozy cottage. It had everything we needed! The place was clean and nicely decorated. Great view from inside. The best part was the dock and sitting outside to watch the sunset. Very quiet location. Nice assortment of kayaks and SUPs. Communication with the owner was great! The lake had a great swimming area, and they had kayaks, paddle boards and row boats to use which was an awesome bonus!!! Lake Michigan is less than 15 minutes away and there were many hiking trails very close by. The hosts were so nice and greeted us when we arrived.
