Other things to note Area attractions: Approximately 200 miles from Glacier National Park (We are on the way) Historic fort that can be visited at any time, with a military cemetery Fish the Sun River, only 1 mile away. First Peoples Buffalo Jump is a must-see: within 1 hour travel time 20 minutes from Great Falls & the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center We are on direct route to Missoula 20 minutes to Augusta 20 minutes from Fairfield and the Freezeout Lake, a large bird refuge & migration stop. The house has always been inviting and comfortable. We try to stay here as it will accommodate visits with our son, daughter-in-law, and youngest grandson, as well as other family in the Great Falls area. It's like a "home away from home" and the quiet neighborhood setting is relaxing. (Must mention, one of the neighbors has a very vocal rooster so you may not need an alarm clock.) All in all, the location in the Sun River Valley can magnify a relaxed atmosphere and a return, if for however short, to a kind of lifestyle you can only find out West. ##### Kenneth K. We were able to visit family in Great Falls and spend time with our son, daughter in law and newest grandson for his first Christmas on their ranch near Simms. We really miss the Montana lifestyle but our ten days in Ft Shaw will have to do until we can come back. Based on availability we would stay here again...and again (nobody has enough room for guests). The host was fantastic and always available to assist if needed. A barnyard rooster next door reminded us of the rural setting and I can't say enough about the Montana sunrise, or seeing the Rocky Mountains on the western skyline. They were especially inspiring towards the end of our stay when the area was blessed with fresh snow. We're on our way home and the worst part of the trip is having Simms, Ft Shaw, and Montana in our rearview mirror. ##### Kenneth K.
