I chose to stay at this hotel based on the "9.2 Wonderful" rating on this website which is supposedly, again, based on over 1K customer reviews. Additionally, I willingly ignored the "2.5 star" rating right under the Name of the hotel.
I did not have much of a problem with how small the pool is, the lack of a safe in the room, how unhygienic I believe it is to NOT have a sink in the bathroom (but outside of the bathroom) and that the shelf in the tub area was amateurishly (and crookedly) slapped on in the bathtub area with the ugliest of caulking jobs; but, I started to itch after the second night. On my 3rd morning I had multiple welts all over my lower legs, elbows and forearms. At the moment, I thought it was mosquito bites and tried to ignore it. By the time I got home and did research online b/c I have NEVER gotten bit this extensively by mosquitoes. The bite marks, especially on my left calf, are in tight clusters. This is consistent with bed bug bites. Never have I ever experienced this before. I have been itching since Tuesday (Saturday now) and applying steroid ointments. Luckily, I always leave my luggage off the floor and immediately bag my dirty clothes.
Never again will I trust the review stars blindly and will definitely try to never again stay at a hotel with fewer than 3 stars.
Thoroughly checking the bedding and the fabric folds on mattresses and furniture will definitely must going fwd.
Stay at this place at your own risk.
