When you first arrive, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into a Nicholas Sparks romance novel. The house has a large winding driveway that can accommodate up to 10 cars and is surrounded by palm trees and iconic southern oaks, providing you with seclusion and privacy. From there, you’ll be greeted by the welcoming covered porch. Before even unpacking, you’ll want to drop your cares and spend some time sipping an iced tea while catching up on some gossip or that book you finally have time to finish. What are you waiting for? Pack up the kids, phone your friends and plan your next escape to our exclusive and spacious beach house just outside of one of America’s most idyllic beach towns and the historic city of Charleston. Cooking and Dining This property is ideal for gathering your family and friends, with its spacious three-floor layout and massive kitchen fully equipped and well-stocked to serve the whole crew. With a kitchen like this, the cooks in the family will inevitably be inspired to settle in and make some culinary magic on its granite countertops, with brand-new appliances and a gas stove. Undoubtedly the kitchen will become the hub of the home where everyone can gather around the table to help prepare meals and sit around the large family dining table located in the sunroom. There’s also plenty of room in the private backyard for barbecuing and dining outdoors. Living Spaces This beach house has all the nostalgia of yesteryear but is loaded with modern amenities to make your stay comfortable and entertaining. We’ve equipped it with lightning-fast wifi so you can catch up on emails and upload your Insta-worthy photos. There are also four TVs connected to Comcast throughout the home, with a massive flat screen in the living room just above the cozy gas fireplace for a family movie night. Who’s bringing the popcorn? From the second and third floor, you’ll also have a peak of the ocean’s emerald water, and from the front porch, you can enjoy a nightly display of cotton candy-colored sunsets. Sleeping Accommodations The sleeping accommodations are just another way this home shines. With six bedrooms and three and a half baths, there is space for up to 16 guests to stay and sleep comfortably. Located on the main floor is the master suite with a comfortable king-size poster bed and ensuite that offers a double vanity. You can also enjoy the jet tub with a glass of wine after a day at the beach or on the town in Charleston. The second floor also has a master bedroom with a private ensuite and a double vanity. Two more sizable bedrooms are located on the second floor with queen-sized beds that share a four-piece bathroom. Bedrooms five and six are located on the third floor with three twin beds and a sleeper sofa in one and two queen size beds in the other. This roomy and bright space is the perfect spot for kids. Easy and quick trip to the Port of Charleston, beach access across the street, close enough to the establisments downtown to walk but secluded enough your not bothered by noise, clean, kitchen stocked to prepare meals for 16+ people. We loved the front porch and being just minutes from the beach. The description of the kitchen and the third floor annex were a little misleading. The kitchen was missing a couple basic items that would have been nice to have such as a large cookie sheet, pepper, and cooking oil. There are 3 single beds on one side of the 3rd floor and two queen beds on the other side. This wasn't a problem, but the description mentioned 2 bedrooms on the third floor and I would have classified the space as one bedroom since there were no doors dividing these two spaces. The property is a very short walk to the public beach access and there was plenty of room for our group of 10--not only in terms of driveway space, but also the many bedrooms, large living room, front and back porches, etc. We had lots of space to hang around, cook for the group, and toss a football around. The walk to the main street in Folly was probably about 15 minutes and very straightforward. Very quiet neighborhood and as the title of this review suggests VERY close to the beach! ##### Tom A. The location was perfect, in a cul de sac directly across the street from the beach! It was a 4-5 min walk and we basking in the sun and sand. There were more than enough rooms to accomodate our group. However, I do wish there was a little more fridge space for all of the food we had and a couple of my guests was hoping for a television in every room(their room did not have one). Overall, I recommend Fantasy Island Folly and would stay there again. Thank you Glenn for being a great host and for always responding so quickly. The house is as pictured and location is fantastic, it does need to be refreshed, the couch is not great to sit on as some of the cushions go mostly to the floor and make it hard to get up. The run in the main area has many pulled strands, the back porch has a fantastic table and couch but the sliding door glass has all lost its seals and does not look great. They had really nice pots and glass jars for our use. there were a few key areas that could have been cleaner, such as mold on the water spout on the refridgerator. The top floor was advertised as two bedrooms but there was no privacy or seperation of the space. The kitchen was open to the living room which really worked for us and the kids really enjoyed the play kitchen on the back porch. The beach chairs and the sand toys were definitely used. It is walkable to downtown, although it’s about a mile. We did have a bit of trouble finding Ubers to downtown Charleston, which we did not expect. But overall the house was comfortable and clean. The house is just across the road from a beautiful beach which was not crowded at all. You get a lot of bang for your buck--this place was several thousand dollars less than other large houses and/or places with beach access like this. The house is not high end, it is a little worn (carpets were stained, couch has seen better days) but given the price and location that was ok with us. Also note that the house had only starter supplies of basics such as toilet paper, soap, detergent etc. Again, the amount you spend on these items pales in comparison to the good deal you get on the house. Also, the house does not come with beach towels or chairs. The kitchen has plenty of dishes and pots and pans, well set up for cooking. Glenn was very responsive and easy to communicate with.
