From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly kind and helpful, creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Everything was clean and well cared for, and the beds were super comfortable - exactly what you need after a full day of exploring. The kitchen was amazing and fully equipped, making it easy to prepare meals and connect with other travelers. I also met some truly wonderful people during my stay, which made the experience even more special. One of the most magical parts of my time here was the Northern Lights. Just a short walk behind the hostel in the evening, I had the most incredible aurora experience - it truly felt surreal. If the skies are clear and the conditions align, this is such a beautiful and accessible spot to witness them. I would highly recommend Fox Hostel to anyone traveling in the Vík area. You're required to buy a separate bus ticket in order to get to the hotel. We weren't told until a couple weeks before our stay that a bus was required to reach the property. We were stunned to find that bus tickets for our family of four were almost TWICE as expensive as the $285 room we booked for a single night. The property's website told us we would be reimbursed only 80% of the cost. We were a little disappointed, but were content that we were able to cancel the reservation. We contacted the property via email. To our surprise, they told us we would lose the entire cost of the booking. Ultimately, we booked elsewhere and disputed the charge with our credit card company. They ruled in our favor and we received a credit for the full cost of the hotel room."
