Beautiful hotel, set in fantastic surroundings. Friendly, helpful staff. Great function hall, beautiful bar (The Library). The room was large, very much in keeping with the style of the hotel I'll definately be back.

I am so glad that you had a fantastic time during your stay with us!Hopefully, we will be seeing you again soon :)
New parking arrangements not publicised before trip. An extra £10 a night on top of the room price and meals is extortionate. Electric bays put close to the hotel with well kept car park. No disabled spaces at all. Further away car parks in very bad repair and a long way to walk with suitcases etc. Very grumpy receptionist on arrival l No help with usage particularly with no lift. No disabled facilities at all. Later receptionist very friendly. Excellent meal. I intend to put this on trust pilot also
Stunning venue
Dog friendly
Beautiful scenery and walks
Staff - couldn’t fault. Really happy to help.
Stunning place.
Great brekkie and just enough
I’ll be back
But make sure I get there earlier next time :)
Staff were all excellent, as was the food & drinks. Room was very comfortable and clean, and the building had a lot of character. We (including the dog) enjoyed sitting by the log fire after dinner. Short one night stay but would return in the summer to enjoy the grounds more.
Staff was friendly and professional. Room was comfortable. Setting was lovely and interesting from a historical point-of-view. Getting in and out if the tub/shower took a bit of mountain goat skills, because it sat high off the floor. It’s probably cost prohibitive, but adding a lift and key card locks to the room doors would be beneficial, especially for serving guests with disabilities.
The property was absolutely beautiful, I felt like a Queen staying here.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with our questions in what to do in the area.
I would love to come back and stay a whole week!
Lovely hotel, clean and quiet. Dog friendly room - although the restaurant is not (but if we wanted breakfast with our dog they would set this in the lounge if required).
Nice big room and big bathroom, just a shame in such a big room that it was only a double bed - could have done with a king! Breakfast was good, food in the restaurant ok - but we did only have the burger and fish and chips.
Staff were pleasant. Amazing grounds if you are staying with a dog - plenty of space to walk.
Way cool country manor house with nice restaurant and a bar with excellent beer. Nice to sit outside in the garden and drink, and even to go golfing for a quite reasonable price at the Balbirnie Park GC. Highly recommend if you like castles and such.
Last minute booking as was meeting up with old friends for a birthday party. Couldn’t get booked anywhere else. We had a room in what I guess would have been the attic. Lovely decor, spotlessly clean and comfy beds, but the main issue we had was the window. This was more of a sky light which we couldn’t see out. It had a blackout Roman blind but as the pull cord was missing we couldn’t close the blind. Meant we were woken up at 5 am when light poured into the room. For £200 a night I would expect to be able to close the curtains.
Staff were also thin on the ground. When we got back to the hotel after our meal a wedding was just finishing up. As our taxi pulled up to the hotel we could see 2 guests sitting on the roof of the building. This did not look safe so I went to reception to inform them, but there was no one there.
Room was lovely and spacious. King size bed very comfortable. Breakfast a huge disappointment for a 4 star hotel. Limited choice. Poor service. For a hotel of this calibre would expect better quality. I know we are going through a pandemic but have stayed in other 4 star hotels during this period and have experienced much better quality and service. Previously have dined at this hotel and had no complaints, good food. However, they are letting themselves down with their breakfast. Feel I could have purchased similar at a local cafe for £5 and enjoyed it more so!
Great hotel, but very much geared towards Weddings
Easy check in, very good service, and great room. Bar was taken over by a wedding, as was the restaurant, so that was a negative. Very much a wedding Hotel. Jeep that in mind. No gluten free effort made whatsoever in the bistro. That was a disappointment.
Really disappointed with our stay. The staff are lovely but that's really all that's positive. The first room we were given was tired and run down with mould in the bath and damage throughout the room. The staff moved us to another room without hassle. This was definitely better but still not great and we were kept up all night with pipes clicking. I know it's an old building but most people that stay are expecting a good nights sleep. The cooked breakfast the next morning was disgusting. Coffee was bitter and the food was overcooked and dry. There's not a huge amount of choice in the Glenrothes area but I would look at some alternatives before booking here.
I just love this place but I do feel they let themselves down with the bar service every time. Breakfast could have been a bit more pleasing to the eye.
Superb place to stay. Super clean, tidy, great staff, don't overcharge for food, super historic, quiet at night, amazing place to stay .. and I got it at a great price thru Orbitz. I highly recommend staying here.
