Located just outside of Fayetteville along Gatewood Road, the New York Central caboose is a completely renovated steel caboose. The train car has been thoughtfully converted to a tiny house and is located right next to Cantrell Rafting. The caboose has one bedroom with a full size bed, a loft area accessed by a ladder with a twin mattress and a futon in the living room. This cute rental is located next across the street from the Top of The Hill cabin, next door to the C&O Caboose at Cantrell Station, and next door to Cantrell Ultimate Rafting. If you have a larger group and are interested in booking both cabooses contact us for a discounted rate. My wife and I loved our stay in the caboose. It was very clean and quite comfortable for the two of us with a nice bed and bathroom. We prefer a bigger bed but the caboose was so cute we couldn’t resist. It was a very hot day so I asked the host if he could make sure the a/c was on for us when we arrived. He made it happen. It took a while for it to cool but was eventually cold at night! We didn’t know where to take the trash at the end of our stay …instructions said to put it in the dumpster at the rafting facility …we didn’t go looking for it…so ended up taking the trash home with us.We would recommend the red caboose! Close to town but not really within walking distance unless you want to walk the winding country road back and forth. My hubby slept on the “downstairs” bed while I slept in the “loft.” I figured the full bed would not be big enough for both of us, or any couple for that matter. I didn’t want to push my luck on the futon having had 2 back surgeries but that was my choice. The loft bed was a little soft for my liking. Cool looking and tidy. This was the owner's childhood dream that became a reality. "Tiny house" Looks awesome, was comfy and tons to do in the area (rafting, climbing, hiking, swimming etc..)!
