Perfect family vacation

We absolutely loved our experience at this mountain respite. We were 10, 6 adults and 4 children ages 2-10. We cooked all meals in, and found the kitchen to be wonderfully equipped. The property is quiet and the ponds and decks and tower provided countless hours of entertainment. The owner answered all questions prior to arrival and responded in a timely manner to all later concerns. We hope to return someday.

Photos don't do justice

Perfect solitude. Resident moose (and her calf). Swimming ponds for our dogs to enjoy. Amazing star gazing. Family time. A "real" log home. Double porch. Hanging beams on the porch perfect for our hammocks. Windows open 24/7. A central location for our excursions (AVA ziplining in Buena Vista & horseback rides in Fairplay). Sightseeing in Breckinridge. Geo-caching . Hiking Hoosier Ridge (bring your O2 canister if you're from lower altitudes). An amazing adventure for our whole family. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Great Location and cabin

Had a wonderful time over 4th of July. The property is excellent with the 2 small ponds just outside the deck. Had a visit from a moose to the pond which was very nice to see. The cabin was comfortable and well equipped. Owner was responsive and welcoming.

Summer Vacation Stay

Overall the cabin and property is as very nice. We stayed there for one week. We were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the cabin on arrival, crumbs were in one of the beds and trash was left on the porch. The property manager was very responsive and had the housekeeper come back and clean up the trash left on the front porch. However, there is no plan for trash throughout the week. I got in touch with the property manager after a few days and was told the housekeeper could not make it out to get the trash; therefore, we had to have a pile of a weeks worth of trash in the cabin. We feel this was not a great plan. We also were told the day of arrival of the broken door. The door could still lock, but it allowed many bugs to get inside the cabin and overall probably was not the sturdiest against a bear coming into the cabin. Again, we stayed for a week with children. The notes about arrival also talks about the cabin having everything you need for your stay. However, there is no serving spoons and no sheets for the pull out beds. Overall we were disappointed in this stay.

Cabin was dirty from previous renters

Independently from how dirty the cabin was once we arrived, the whole experience was still beautiful, if the cabin had been cleaned prior to us arriving I would of given 5 starts, but the fact that we had to wash all blankets/towels, clean trash and restrooms… right when we got there during the night it was very exhausting. Also since the house is on a hill, make sure to buy chains for your tires/or mountain tires, we had to pay $260 for a pair when in Dallas they cost $60 🥴🤦🏻‍♀️ wish we would of known.

A very unique cabin experience

We very much enjoyed staying at this cabin, not only were the hosts very attentive but you won't regret the great location for skiing or site seeing. Don't let the temperature get you, it gets better. Lots of fun and things to do if you plan to stay at the property.

Beautiful property inside and outside, with tons of privacy. The cabin was spacious, clean, and instantly felt homey. Great responsiveness from the hostess. We had a wonderful stay and I have zero hesitation giving it 5 stars.

Why the ponds?

I understand the ponds and the potential for wildlife to drink from them but we didn't see any wildlife other than the gray squirrels. The ponds appear to be a great place to grow mosquitos because they were terrible all day every day. I am not accustomed to Colorado weather so mosquitos might be normal. Loved the low humidity and cool temperatures the whole time we were there.

Winter Wonderland

Beautiful cabin in the woods. We were hoping for snow and boy did we get it. Pond iced over and we played in the snow and sled all day. Saw a couple moose, elks, and rabbits. The heated floors had to be my favorite part !!! Love

Perfect Getaway

We had an amazing time. This cabin is perfect. Lots of space. Everything we needed. Total peace and quiet. I can't say enough good things about this place. We will definitely be back in the summer. The property was great in the snow, but I would love to see it blooming! 10/10 recommend.

Elopement

We had a small elopement with our parents, siblings and 2 year old here. The company was so helpful when I called and allowed us to have a photographer and videographer on the property as well. This property is absolutely stunning. The cabin is so clean and the owner was so commutative and helpful when we had questions. We had The absolute best weekend! I will add the altitude is very high and the altitude sickness is very real and can be hard to breathe if you aren’t used to it!

Paradise in Colorado

The cabin was very clean and very comfortable. We jumped right into the many amenities this house affords. Kids enjoying the foosball table while adults enjoy the views from both the looking deck and the patios. I'll bet the kids and dogs ran 100 miles around the ponds. We couldn't have asked for a better property to enjoy! Thank you!

Beautiful place!

My family and I had a fantastic stay at this beautiful property. Morning and evening walks were lovely and the ponds were so clear. We were lucky enough to see a few moose and elk, and of course stars were amazing to view at night. We are very grateful to have been able to stay at this beautiful place and hope to return soon! Scott's house was just perfect for our cross country ski trip. The house had everything we needed and is in a beautiful private area yet convenient to Fairplay, Alma and Breckinridge. We definitely would rent this cabin again.

Great potential with some elbow grease

Pros: - The cabin is located in a wonderful spot. Lots of room to roam and didn’t feel like we were close to anyone else. - Open floor plan made the cabin feel very spacious. - Pet friendly. It was great to have our dogs with us on this mountain getaway! - Owner was easy to get ahold of and answered questions promptly before our trip. Cons: - Cleanliness. Especially given the fact that we are in a pandemic and 6 hours are given to clean the cabin (10 am check out, 4 pm check in), the cabin was very poorly cleaned. Many of the dishes in the cupboards were dirty and required washing before use. Many lids to the pots and pans were dirty. We wiped the dining room table after first arriving and the paper towel was literally a dark grey color! The tile floor had several dirt spots. Dust bunnies, water bottle caps and other garbage,un-set mouse and rat traps under the beds and couches. The rug in the living room was pretty dirty as well, and we couldn’t find a vacuum to use to help clean it up during our stay. - Safety issue. A metal draft seal on the back door was bent back, exposing a sharp edge and screws. My dog scraped it and cut her paw pad! This would have been an easy fix in between travelers. - Not well stocked. The check in instructions stated that the cabin is well stocked with regular items except coffee and soap/shampoo. I fully expected to find some sugar, salt, cooking oil and other pantry staples. All we had were some spices, table syrup, ketchup and mustard. - Not very neat. The back deck had camping chairs thrown around; a gallon of paint; random sleds - the overall first impression just wasn’t tidy. Extra pillows and blankets were just thrown under the stairs; wasn’t sure if they were washed or not. - Uncomfortable sleeping surfaces. The two queen beds had unevenly worn mattresses. The pull out couch mattress had a decline at the head and was very uncomfortable. Overall, it wasn’t bad but also not worth the price, especially since the photos on the listing looked way better than the state we found this cabin in. But a few fixes in cleanliness and other cabin updates could definitely turn this into a 5 star mountain get-away!

Can't wait to come back!

I cannot say enough about this amazing property! My family and I were treated to a winter wonderland as it snowed 9" the night we arrived! The property is huge and well taken care of. We were a little concerned we wouldn't be able to get out of the driveway because of the amount of snow that had fallen, but the owner of the home had already arranged to have the drive plowed and a wonderful gentleman showed up, plowed the driveway, and was gone before we knew it. The house was beautifully furnished and clean. We just had such a great time. We all can't wait to come back. Thank you for having us!!!
