Not really a castle, over priced
I stayed here because it was a castle. However, the castle has been converted into apartments so you cannot visit the interior of the castle and the B & B feels like anywhere else. So, you don’t really get a “castle” experience. The area is fairly empty so there is nothing but the autostradle close by. There is one restaurant which the owner recommended but it was terrible food-cheap, though. The accommodation is clean and nice, but simple. Normally this level would go for half the price, but I paid the extra thinking I would have a castle experience. The breakfast was not good, almost all store bought items. It’s self service, there is coffee and tea, but you’re not going to get a filling breakfast. Also, the owner does not live on the property so it lacks the service/intimacy that a typical B & B offers. If you are in the area, it’s a good option, but don’t drive out of your way to stay here as I did.

We booked this stay thinking of having a real castle experience but it was not quite what we expected. We couldn't connect to the internet and breakfast did not impress us.

Castle retreat
Spent two incredible days exploring the surrounding hill towns using Fabro as our home base. Views from the top of the castle were breathtaking.

Great stay in the clouds
This is a 1000 year or more castle location at the summit of Fabro. Like all Italian towns in this area, Fabro is perched on top of a small mountain, so this b&b is like being on top of the world! our room was a bit tiny and dark, but quite comfortable nonetheless. Luca and Simona were wonderful hosts, fantastic to talk to, and ready to help with whatever we needed. I'd return to this castle hideaway in the sky anytime!
