Shell Cottage is a private cottage on a canal with a securely fenced front and back yard for your kids. Dock access is gated and offers a slip for canoes, kayaks, and rowboats if you choose to bring them. The Shell Cottage sits right on a canal in King Salmon, a fishing village just six and a half miles south of Eureka, where you can find several malls, theaters, convenience stores, dining options, and more! The thriving arts communities in Victorian Ferndale, Arcata, and Eureka have much to offer day and night, including live shows, art exhibits, and community events. Del Arte in Blue Lake always puts on incredible, innovative shows. If anyone in your group is a cinephile, a little further away, they can find Prairie Creek State Park (where Return of the Jedi was filmed) and Fern Canyon (where Jurassic Park was filmed); both are 54 and 58.5 miles away, respectively. The living room features a large TV with cable and DVD, a comfortable sitting area with a queen sofa bed, and fresh nautical charm, creating the perfect ambience for endless relaxation. The well-equipped kitchen will help you prepare the most delicious snacks and meals you can enjoy indoors or at the picnic table in the front yard for some outdoor dining. The backyard also has seating by the dock and canal. We had a blast and were so comfy every night in this lovely little house. The yard is fully enclosed with good tall fences so I felt confident leaving the door open while we were at home so she could lay in the sun. The kitchen was fully equipped and we even enjoyed veggie burgers on the propane grill out back. Easy street parking for single vehicle directly in front of home. The neighborhood was quiet and pleasant, including the RV park across the way. Morning and evening walks to the beach were more than welcomed by my canine companion. It had a fenced in space for our little girl both front and back. It’s decorated with plants and foliage very nicely. The only negative we have is that the couch is pretty stained up, but clean. We enjoyed our stay and if ever in the area will stay there again. Aug 27, 2022 #### Didn’t want to leave !! What a wonderful trip we had.. More than wonderful really. We typically just stay with our grandparents, but decided to treat ourselves, and it was definitely a treat!! Best location, just outside of Eureka. We were going between Ferndale and Eureka to visit friends and family so we couldn’t ask for a better location! Walked to the beach multiple times. Can’t beat the beach at King Salmon! Neighbors were so great! It was quite and felt very safe! Loved the privacy provided by the fully fenced property. The dock was amazing for dropping the kayaks in and taking a cruise! We also brought our boat and it was so nice to just hop in the boat and head out fishing multiple times a day! The home was in excellent condition!! Very clean, all the furniture was very comfortable, fast internet, cable tv in the living room, great size for two people! We felt at home here which is so important! We will 100% be back next year! Jul 19, 2022 #### Great get away for 1-2 + dog Nice small house to explore the Eureka area. Away from the city - very quiet - but close enough. Fully fenced front and back yards connected by a narrow passage is great for a small dog. Great forrest walks within 30 mins - Arcata Comminoty forrest was a daily treat. Dock in back is fun to look at critters in the water (flashlight at night attracts strange stuff). Water is too brackish to launch (for me). Lots of great restaurants in Eureka and even in/around King Salmon. Great seafood, Mexican, Italian. Had an issue with initial housekeeping but our local person addressed it nicely (previous guests fault). Just booked this same house for 2 months out.
