"What an incredible experience! Built in the 1940s (I believe) on a 17th century fort on a windblown beach in a national park? Yes please! The natural beauty alone is worth staying here. But the use of stone and wood and natural elements was superb. I saw some reviews complain about the age of the place. Well my room and the whole wing appears quite new. Decor is simple and comfortable and more than spacious enough for Americans. My room (#50) had a huge patio with views of both the dunes and the beach! Housekeeping works hard here! Keeping the sand out when it blows in the air and folks track it in must be impossible but I walked barefoot in my room with no grit. The best part was the service. They let me put my luggage in early and after I checked out so I could walk the beach. They even walked me to my room. Very helpful despite language barriers- MINE, my Portugese is non existent. Hands signals and smiles and patience fixed that. If you need a day or two of quiet after a busy city like Lisbon I highly recommend this local beach off the beaten track"

"40 minute commuter train ride to Lisbon. Great option if you want to stay in a quieter place than Lisbon. Hotel is in an old citadel. Short walk to Cascais and dining."

"We stayed here for 9 nights April 2024. Perfect location, walkable to many fun places nice restaurants, lots of attractions and even good 15-20 mins walk to downtown Cascais. Hotel itself was very clean,buffet breakfast was amazing, lots of options and best part was the very helpful staff. We stayed with our kids and they loved the Easter activities. Would highly recommend this hotel."
