Past guests have raved: "... this place is awesome as it was close it the park and also it gave us unique rustic experience." "... the location on Nathan’s place is unmatched if you’re doing the trek to Rocky Mountain National Park, and the place is so charming." "... the charm of this cottage is incredible! It is comfortable and stylish. You can’t beat the location and the views." "... Stay with Nathan! We loved this house! Everything was so nice and tidy! The stove was a wonderful homey feel! We loved coffee on the porch swing!" Thanks for checking out the historic 1927 Alpine Garden Cabin. Located in the shadows of Prospect and Giant Track Mountains with views into the National Park and Twin Sisters Peaks, it's about 5 minutes from the entry gate to Rocky Mountain National Park, 5 minutes from downtown Estes Park, and just seconds away from my favorite restaurant and local supermarket. This unique cabin originally sat inside the National Park, in Moraine Park, and was eventually moved to its current site. If you stay here, you'll be staying in a museum that's been slowly and gradually added to over the years. During the most recent updates, I added some fun touches: coffee tables and shelving I hand-made from local reclaimed wood, and funky hanging lamps I made out of whiskey bottles that I upcycled from my favorite local restaurant, Bird and Jim (just down the street). I also added a new privacy fence to and opened up the back yard so you can enjoy afternoon meals or glasses of wine and feel alone. The inside is super unique: there's a historic wood stove, tin ceiling in the living room, and fun 1950s lime green paint in the fully stocked kitchen. It's got everything you need to help you feel at home during your Estes Park vacation. Enjoy the wood burning stove in the historic living room, or just kick back in front of a smart TV (on top of another fireplace) and zone out. \*\*\*\*\* IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE \*\*\*\*\* My 1-acre property has three short term rentals on it: this home and two other cabins. Each one has its own private parking and living spaces; the only shared area is the driveway. Guests must be respectful of the parking and noise situations. If you are looking for isolation in the woods, this is not your best bet. \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* BEDROOMS The home has two bedrooms and has a maximum legal occupancy of six. Bedroom 1 - A master bedroom with en-suite bathroom sits off the kitchen, removed from the living room. It's got an amazingly comfortable king bed and a walk in shower. Note that the pellet stove in this room is NOT FOR GUEST USE. It is nevertheless heated with central heat. Bedroom 2 - The original and historic bedroom, sitting off the living room and attached to a bathroom. Featuring a comfortable queen bed and lots of wood walls for the cozy feel. Bedroom 3 - We offer a pull out sofa bed for extra guests, for a max of six. BATHROOMS Bathroom 1 - An en-suite bathroom off the master bedroom, with a sink, toilet and walk-in shower. Bathroom 2 - Part of the original cabin, with an antique clawfoot tub located off the living room. LIVING & ENTERTAINMENT Living Room - Enjoy games and movies on your own streaming accounts with a smart Roku TV, relax in the comfortable couches in front of the wood burning stove, or simply turn it all off and try to imagine living in this home when it was originally built 100 years ago. WiFi - My home now has a strong mesh WiFi network with no dead zones. A 600Mbps connection will allow you to stream and work. LAUNDRY, COOKING, DINING Kitchen - The funky lime green kitchen is fully stocked with a fridge, freezer, oven, stove, new pots and pans, lots of cutlery, wine glasses, a drip coffee maker, and much, much more. Dining Area - In the kitchen, this dining area offers seating for 6. You can also dine outside in the garden. Laundry - The home offers a small laundry/mud room off the kitchen. In it is a full size washer and dryer that you can use for free. This is a fully furnished, private home. You have full access to: \+ 2 bedrooms \+ 2 bathrooms \+ private parking \+ private yard and outdoor dining area \+ kitchen/dining and living areas I own a small rental management company in town and have a great team of house managers, so either myself or one of them will be readily available to answer any and all questions. My neighborhood is a typical Estes Park rural residential neighborhood, where you can see mountains all around but there are also neighbors. My property is a little over an acre and this unit has an effective privacy fence so all the outdoor area feels private and "all yours." There are neighbors and I ask that guest are respectful of them, self-monitor their noise levels, and do not trespass on their land. This property is about a 15 minute walk to the Country Super Market (downhill there, uphill back), where you can hop on the free summer shuttle bus that goes all over Estes Park and takes you to the Rocky Mountain National Park visitor center, and from there you can hop on a shuttle that goes into the National Park. However, you really need to have your own car when visiting Estes Park. There are not reliable Ubers/Lyfts and the taxis are few and far between. NOISE Events, loud music and noises, and parties are strictly prohibited. Please be respectful of your noise level so I can maintain good relationships with my neighbors. Note that my property has two other short term rentals on it; treat our neighbors like you'd want to be treated. The house has a Minut, which measures sound levels and alerts us if things are too loud so I can give you a heads up. It does not record content, it only measures decibel levels so your privacy is 100% guaranteed. Guests are not to unplug it (we will also be alerted if that happens). It also measures temperature to alert us of pipe freeze conditions. It's on the kitchen ceiling. NONPAYING GUESTS Insurance requires that nonpaying and non-registered guests are not allowed on property. AIR CONDITIONER Estes has a mild mountain climate in the summers but from time to time it can get hot. Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. The cool evening breeze will cool the home down quickly. MINUT We use a Minut noise meter. It doesn't record audio, but instead monitors decibel levels, temperature and humidity. This is for the safety of guests & to protect the home. It also serves to warn us about parties & prevent noise complaints from neighbors. It's located on the cieling in the kitchen. Aug 31, 2017 #### Great cabin, will continue to come back We loved our stay at the Mountain Meadow retreat. It was our second time staying at this property and there will be many more! We love the convenience of being a few minutes from town, but still secluded enough to see plenty of wildlife. ##### Justin M. Right on the edge of the Rocky Mountain National Park providing easy access for hiking and sightseeing. The accommodation was comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The BBQ was generous in size and the umbrella had its own set of lights. A nice place to come back home to after a long day of discovering the beauty of the Rockies. ##### Mark v. We REALLY enjoyed it. The location is fantastic - right off the road to RMNP, and 2 minutes from Estes Park's main drag. There's a nice restaurant and mini-grocery right down the street as well. It was very quiet, and the yard was a huge bonus with kids - they ran around and climbed the rocks and trees and had a great time. The beds were very, very comfortable, even the foldout couches. There were plenty of sheets and towels, and having the washer/drying in the house was convenient. Some staples were provided, like dish and laundry soap, salt and pepper, toilet paper, paper towels, and napkins. You will have to be sure to provide your own baking supplies if you want to bake (like sugar and flour). When we were there, the weather was beautiful - nice and cool. Those staying in July and August should note that the house DOES NOT have air conditioning/cooling. Other than those two months, ceiling fans and open windows will work out beautifully. And the house is heated well. The master bath is fabulous, with a nice, big shower. The clawfoot is charming, and my little ones loved taking a bath in it. One important note is that the current owner of this cottage is GREAT to work with. She's flexible, very responsive, and was nice and patient with my many goofy questions. That is a huge bonus if you've rented from a private owner before - it makes such a difference! I would absolutely recommend this cottage for stays September through June. ##### Jennifer D. As expected, the home has character & comfort & provided exactly what we needed day after day when we returned from hiking in RMNP. There were only 2 in our party but we could have comfortably slept 6. The bed and pillows were comfy (I often bring my own pillow so I was relieved). We enjoyed the grill & private patio & were more than thrilled when the local elk herd visited the back yard & we were able to capture his bugling on the Go Pro & iPhone. The location is PERFECT just a few miles from the park's entrance. We hiked every day & ate meals in the home because it was easy, convenient & economical. We bought groceries at Safeway, a few miles into Estes Park, follow the signs to avoid some of the Estes Park traffic near downtown on the weekends. There was a crock pot in the home we used one day for beef stew which was a fabulous convenience. Hiking - we hiked the following trails: Mills Lake, Lake Helene, Bierstadt Lake, Lily Lake, Toll Memorial, Chasm Lake, Alluvial Falls, Sprague Lake, Cub Lake to the Pools, Lake Haiyaha, Emerald Lake, Bear Lake, Alberta Falls. Our favorites were Mills, Bierstadt, Helene & Chasm. I'd sprained my ankle badly 2 hours into our first hike by stepping off the trail to take a photo of an elk & I must not have been paying attention, a stupid mistake & I should have known better. After an afternoon of icing & laying low for a day I hiked anyway & have a puffy ankle with a myriad of color that can better heal now that I'm home. The one evening we dined out we chose Rock Inn. It seemed like a local spot with character & an acoustic singer. Prices are moderately high at most restaurants that I looked at which is to be expected in a tourist area. We loved the Rock Inn & ate Hummus, Vegetable Bowl, Penne Feta Bowl & 2 salads. The service & food were outstanding & we would return. On our last day a kind lady at one of the downtown stores shared some night videos with us of the wildlife most of us don't get to see (mountain lions, bear & coyote) & told us about a bear that often sleeps in a big tree near downtown. We went for a short walk & I was lucky to spot the bear in a huge tree, cradled in the upper branches, well camoflouged. We likely spent a half hour taking photos & iPhone videos as he watched us & changed position slightly. This was a great way to end our trip! Thanks for allowing us to share your lovely home! ##### Laurie M. Oct 2, 2020 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Perfect location! Everything you need being away from home. We stayed at this property for three nights. The property is less than a mile away from the RMNP, so you are not wasting a minute of your precious time visiting the park. During COVID-10, make sure to secure a reservation to the park first before renting any property - at least this is what we did. The property itself is well maintained, and we were provided with everything we needed. The property managers even left us the grocery store’s loyalty card, so we were able to save money on our groceries. The communication with the property managers was great, and they provided us with all necessary information regarding the property, the neighborhood, and the locality. If we visit RMNP again, we will definitely stay at this property – cannot ask for a better home and location. Thank you. ##### Galina M. The beds were comfortable, the neighborhood was quiet, the location is amazingly close to the park entrance, and the instructions were clear for check-in and check-out. We would definitely stay here again! ##### Denise B. Stayed 3 nights in Jun 2019 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Bryan W. Aug 29, 2018 #### Well appointed with tons of “cabin charm”! We liked that it was out of town but close to everything . ##### Bryan W. Stayed 3 nights in Jul 2018 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Verified traveller Aug 12, 2018 #### The house is fabulous. So quaint and quiet. We loved being able to cook out and sit out on the patio The house is close to town but out of the hustle and bustle. Close to the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance. The shower is huge. The claw foot bathtub is awesome. This home is great. The property management goes above and beyond to make people comfortable. They are great. The beds are comfortable as well. We would stay here again if we visit Estes Park again. ##### Verified traveller Stayed 2 nights in Jul 2018 ### 8/10 Good #### kelli m. Jul 28, 2018 #### Very well kept, clean and convenient! The cabin was the perfect beginning and end to each day we were adventuring Estes! Plenty of room for our family of 5 to spread out as well as come together for family game nights and morning breakfast. The communication was consistently open with the owner for any questions we had and everything was well thought out and put together for us to easily find within the cabin ourselves. Thank you for your hospitality!! ##### kelli m.
