This place is magnificent. Very comfortable and spacious. Very private and romantic. Atenas is a great place to walk around and explore. Stayed 3 nights. Klaus is the best and responded to every question promptly.Let's talk about location and roads. We rented a Nissan Versa. From the description I thought I would consistently bottom out the vehicle. The toad was fine until the last 2 Km, then it becomes a landmine field where the holes are not filled. If you have ever driven on a dirt/gravel US country road after a rain has washed away the gravel it is very similar. Slow down to 10 MPH and look for the holes and there is no issue. Never bottomed out once but you will shake, rattle and roll.For a true healthy, natural, foodie experience try The Retreat's restaurants, Sol Terrace or Mystique outside Atenas. Incredible story behing the resort's mission. El Jardin in Atenas was also great! Say hello to Diego.We will be back! ##### Ron W. Check in process is well detailed and seamless. The drive up the mountains is rougher terrain so 4-WD is a must. The property is quiet and gorgeous! ##### Logan A. We had the pool to ourselves the entire time. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, towels and storage containers that allowed us to cook several meals after visiting the local grocery store in Atenas. Klaas and Sandra were amazing and we did the coffee and wildlife reserve tour with them. Both great experiences. Hot water didn't work the day we left and water pressure was pretty low for showers, but those were the only issues we had. Everything else was great! ##### Denise R. Only recommendation would to have AC units in the bedrooms as it definitely was uncomfortable at times. I would absolutely stay again in December if AC units were installed!! A very quiet and peaceful place for lounging by the pool, watching birds, just relaxing. Has all the mod-cons and AC which is a plus. The manager (Marco) and owner were amazing and very responsive. Very cute and clean place. Would recommend a small SUV if you are renting a car as some of the roads are rough (if only for short distance). Paradise waits for sure! ##### Bryan G. The inventory is very complete. Excellent beds. The view is great from the terrace and the swimming pool. Good location for exploring the places of interest in the central part of Costa Rica. Beautiful amazing views, modern clean and comfort stay. Very spacious and plenty of amenities. Loved waking up and watching the sun rise with mountain views. The pool was excellent and again, great to get cooled off whilst looking at the views. VRBO did not seem to clear to use through the booking process, but the stay itself was great.
