1) Caters to special diets.
2) Rooftop garden.
3) Friendly staff.
4) Best room design of any hotel I've stayed at.
5) Responsive to special requests starting with the general manager.
6) Early check in and late check out when available.
7) A pillow menu.
From a Western perspective almost all staff in the Philippines of all hotels, including this one will stumble on seemingly the smallest requests at times, saying things like "Well noted sir," when absolutely nothing will be done about a request or they may not understand it. It seems that the desire to please begins by saying "yes" regardless of comprehension. This requires additional training by management since it's a shame to get annoyed over details with such friendly people.

Rooms, amenities, and services are excellent. There is only one thing wrong with this hotel, and it is a big one. It is impossible to get a taxi during rush hours and difficult to get one at other times. Because it is a little out of the way, taxis don't go there unless they have a passenger. Prepare for long waits, especially during rush hours.

My three preferred hotels in the area are Diamond, Manila Hotel, and Pan Pacific. Each have their strengths.
The Diamond Hotel has the best restaurant ambiance, the second best buffet and the best service and restaurant staff. They are also improving their room service, this time offering complimentary early check-in, late check out until 2pm and setting up a heater in the room - which is nice if you have traveled half way around the world to be warm and find there is no windows in the room. The staff are always friendly. Rodel, the restaurant manager takes superb care of my special diet and discounts the buffet since I am vegetarian and don't eat the expensive sea foods. He is 1/3rd of my reason for choosing Diamond Hotel for this stay. I should also note that the Diamond Hotel has a beautiful view of the water.
By contrast, the Manila Hotel has the best buffet selection, weak service and double the price. Their check-in policies are not guest-friendly. When they have a special including breakfast it is wonderful to enjoy the oldest Hotel in Manila and the fine architecture.
Pan Pacific offers a 40% newer/nicer room design and the most responsive management to my suggestions of any hotel but is often more expensive and has the smallest buffet and a weaker restaurant ambiance, but will cater very well to my diet upon request. They also bought a heater for me and offer the biggest emphasis on my comfort of any hotel I've stayed at.

New World Manila Bay Hotel is an excellent place to stay either for leisure or business while in the Philippines. Their amenities and service especially the Lounge and the Casino are world class standard. Rooms are always kept clean by very attentive housekeeping staff, the concierge are always available to assist and help and are very prompt to meet your needs; area is very accessible to historic sites and shopping/restaurants; all in all a very highly recommended place to stay.

Always stay in this hotel whenever I am in Manila.
The location in near to many good eateries and a big hypermarket.
Area is a bit dodgy but safe.
My biggest peeve with the hotel is the bath towels. Old and small.
Have complain about this to the management years ago and still the same.

It's not the greatest area of Manila but the hotel itself is wonderful and it's the only place I like to stay when I'm in town. The rooms are both big, modern and clean. The beds are also big and very comfortable...once I lay down I never want to get back up.
They gave me a nice upgrade and I told them it was my birthday and that I appreciated it. About 20 minutes after entering the room their was a knock at my door. I opened it up and found one of the staff waiting there with a complimentary chocolate birthday cake in his hands. It was above and beyond and something I will never forget.
