Suite One, Suite Two, Suite Three, and Suite Four, all situated on the second floor, provide a private retreat with a queen-size bed, a full ensuite bathroom, and a cozy sitting area. Suite Two and the ground-floor Efficiency also offer a sofa bed for extra sleeping space. The ground-floor Efficiency features a queen-size bed, a sofa bed, a full bathroom, and easy access. The Bunky, also on the ground floor, is perfect for families or groups with a double bed and bunk beds. All suites are air-conditioned for year-round comfort. The Sugar Pine Lodge was perfect for our family and our daughter's bridal party during an EVL wedding weekend. Everyone had their own space, yet the communal areas were perfect for lots of togetherness. We had a small rehearsal dinner BBQ on Friday night and with all the covered areas it was perfect with the uncertain weather. It was taking a step back in time with the decor, making for an extra cozy stay. Dave was very responsive to any questions that we had throughout the weekend. There were 15 of us - adult siblings with our young adult kids and our elderly parents. Having separate quarters for our sleeping areas gave us just enough privacy - and the main area is huge with plenty of room for all. All the conveniences needed in the kitchen. And so much to do - the ping-pong table, Fooseball, horseshoes and the pool and hot tub - we could have spent a week here! Everyone enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub. Kids really liked the ping pong under the pavilion and we all enjoyed fire pit at night. Had an old time feel to it but was great. It was nice having the industrial range in the kitchen to cook on. Especially with 15 people to feed. The Commons spaces were large enough for us all to be together while we were also all able to retreat to our own spaces for the evenings to sleep. The location was within walking distance of downtown. Which was awesome due to the local food festival we happened upon. The hot tub was excellent and the pool was fantastic. We didn’t realize the pool had a heater and next time would definitely utilize that! The kitchen was well appointed with everything you could need. Grocery and liquor store nearby. Those of us that were hikers and runners enjoyed the proximity to the mountain. We would definitely recommend! ##### Kendra Q. My family rents VRBO properties each summer for our annual reunion, and this one was the best by far! The privacy of each couple or family having their own bathroom and bedroom was a godsend! There is also SO much to do—swim, hot tub, ping-pong, air hockey, darts, bike rides, firepit night, walks to town—even the middle schoolers weren’t acting bored. ;) The house was very clean when we arrived, and the owners were very friendly, communicative and also addressed some issues (smoke alarm malfunction & lighting) right away so we could fully enjoy our stay. The kitchen is also AMAZING for cooking family meals, which is something we’ve had a hard time finding in other rental homes in the past. The only suggestion I would make is to label the light switches on all the floors. There are 32 switches in the dining room and kitchen alone, so it was a constant mystery trying to figure out how to turn lights on and off. Aug 13, 2024 Liked: Check-in, location Disliked: Cleanliness #### We made it work There was definitely plenty of space for everyone to enjoy themselves, great location, and the pool and game room were awesome to have, but this was not what we were expecting. -There was no mention of the sleeping quarters being outside the main house. Also slightly confusing to find the efficiency suite around the front of the building, totally secluded from the rest. -Stove, cooking utensils, dishes, etc were dirty and required cleaning before use. -Several a/c units did not function properly, blowing out hot air at times. -One of the pullout beds was broken -There was an electrical hazard in one of the bedrooms; Painter’s tape holding together loose/exposed wires. -The firepit was FULL of soot/dirt. There were no tools to clean it out, we filled an entire garbage can using just a frisbee. -The grill was covered in food residue and was unuseable. Smoked billowed throughout the neighborhood while we tried to burn it off for 15 minutes -Lighting features around the pool did not function. Could have been a safety hazard when we’re outside until 11pm. We were still able to have fun, but it was definitely a shock to discover the layout in person as well as the issues above. ##### Alex S. Stayed 3 nights in Aug 2024 ### 8/10 Good #### Jon R. Sep 23, 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Great location; good for groups We stayed at Sugar Pine Lodge for a long weekend to celebrate a 50th bday. 12 of us total. It was clean and convenient and worked out really well for us. You can tell it gets a lot of use – a bit worn – but it’s what we expected based on the pics and other reviews, so no surprises. And we found a lot to like about it. Location is perfect. Easy walk to the village. 2 minute drive to Holiday Valley. Pros: The pool and hot tub were very nice and well maintained The fire pit area was fantastic The game room/garage was great The Viking stove was a nice treat The separated sleeping areas were a big plus. TVs all worked well. Cons: Mattresses and furniture could use an upgrade. Someone expecting higher end accommodations might not like it. We never found the keys for the bike lock – but there are bikes there. The kitchen drawers need some attention. A few were broken or fragile. And the utensil selection was a bit thin. Notes: Quiet hours for the neighborhood behind the lodge start at 11:00 pm on the weekends and they are enforced by the neighbors. Honestly, there’s a ton of room inside so it shouldn’t be an issue but we all have that friend…. The Holiday Valley Aerial Adventure Park and Mountain Coaster are just up the road and were amazing. We had EBC’s Taqueria do drop off catering at the place for dinner. It was perfect - $22/pp and you get your own taco bar with plenty of food for everyone.
