Once a laundromat, the history is in the details, built in 1928 it now has been turned into a beautiful lodge. Stay and relax by the river or explore nearby attractions and sightseeing- From Garden of the Gods to Cave-in-Rock, Shawnee Forest, Riverside Mercantile next door; The Riverside Lodge is a hop, skip and jump to all things Southern IL. The rental property was near both parks. The house was just what we wanted. It had everything we needed. There were limited restaurants but we enjoyed cooking at home and then sit by the fire pit afterwards. Would rent this place again if we find ourselves in that area. ##### Donna S. The bed was amazingly comfortable. The fried catfish on the river was excellent but is closed the first part of the week. We cooked meat purchased from the little store next door one night and it was delicious. Very high quality. We were hiking some of the paths in Shawnee and enjoyed our stay.
