"Proximity to Jerez"
The hotel didn´t seem to be completed. It was a bit like the Marie Celeste. Getting to the dining room was difficult for me, recovering from a hip operation, and finding stairs without hand rails difficult.

"Good location, with friendly helpful staff."
Only real issue for English speaking guest was only one English language T.V. station. Our room had no view, this was the same for several rooms, that said lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful receptionists. Good location with free on street parking outside, pay parking beneath hotel. Hotel direction/location signs provided by "council" get you close then give up!!

"Great hotel with easy access to many places"
Close to bus/train station. Can walk everywhere in El Puerto. Beautiful old monastery hotel with nice public areas (garden, pool, terraces ). Excellent breakfast. Our room was probably the most basic but was spacious and clean with comfortable beds. If you hire a car you can park in the 'central' public underground parking for €3.95 for 24 hours, otherwise avoid driving as you do not need a car there and can go to Cadiz by catamaran for a couple of euros. We hired a car for a few days to visit inland - Los pueblos blancos and the coast, and driving around is easy. We enjoyed our stay there very much.

"Lovely hotel and very helpful staff"
We enjoyed our stay in a superb room although we did pay extra for this as it was just for one night. Breakfast was great and good value for 10 euros. Dinner menu was very limited so we decided to eat out. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

"Excellent value hotel in Sherry port near Cadiz"
This is an excellent small hotel in one of the sherry ports, half an hour across the bay from Cadiz (whether by catamaran ferry, by train, or by bus). I am not sure how representative the Expedia price I paid was, but I found the spec of the hotel outstanding value for money - smart public areas and rooms, with marble floors and tasteful décor, and very clean. The hotel staff I dealt with were without exception helpful and charming, although none that I dealt with had more than very basic English. This comment also applies to staff in restaurants etc in the town of El Puerta de Santa Maria, although the tourist information office in the town was very helpful in good English. The only English language TV channel available in the room ran back-to-back old Hollywood movies, but the Wi-Fi connection was excellent. I found the hotel very quiet (including on a Saturday night). Restaurant prices in surrounding streets were much better value than in Cadiz itself. Like one other reviewer, I found the hotel initially hard to find. The very narrow street it is on turns off the main road from the station, but it is not named at the crucial junction. The map does accurately give the names of the streets immediately preceding the one you need. Overally, I would definitely stay there again.

"Haven of peace and tranquility"
We stayed in this apartment as a family for 10 days. It is in a quiet and high end residential neighborhood. The aparment is set amidst a lush wonderful gardens which are a haven of tranquility and serenity. The apartment was cleaned everyday and had all amenities. The only comment we make is to change the toaster which is really an outdated old model and not particularly apt from safety point of view. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us very welcome. I would definetly recommend this hotel-apartment complex to others, it has an appealing spanish quality and there are plenty of shops, cafes, tapas at walkable distance.

"Well-restored old manor house"
Once you find this place, it is a pleasant change from hotels, with a sitting-room and fully-equipped kitchen. There is a small supermarket just down the street opposite the entrance, open when other shops are closed. The town has a large, interesting church, a small but elegant castle and a number of museums. There is a boat service to Cadiz, but this was not running in winter after a bad storm. Cadiz is 40 minutes by local train and Jerrez much closer - Cadiz 4 Euros day return and Jerez 1.15 Euros single (both with Tareja Dorada). Note that everything closes on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday - plan your visit accordingly.

El Puerto de Santa Maria Hotels Guide

Close to Jerez de la Frontera, the port of Santa María has flourished from the export of sherry and, like its neighbour, features several famous bodegas, open to visitors. There is a small whitewashed old town, an historic bullring and a castle to explore. The port is also home to a fishing fleet, and there are good beaches to either side of town. Nearby is a new marina-resort, Puerto Sherry.
