The ground-level patio is a great place to chill and grill while you splash and play in the large private pool which is sure to be the centerpiece for fun and fellowship. A bright and poised interior is beaming with joyful sunlight and charisma providing a lovely reminder that you are at the beach and to savor the peace of your vacation. This home was designed with guests in mind featuring main bedrooms on both the first and second floor as well as an additional living area upstairs, equipped with another large flatscreen TV. No detail has been overlooked to ensure your comfort. The gorgeous open kitchen features granite countertops and top-of-the-line appliances fit for any Lowcountry feast. Magnificent hard surface flooring, coastal accents, and exceptional furnishings will ensure you have Tons of Fun during your Edisto vacation for years to come. Things to Know: No smoking, please. No pets, please. The unit offers a whole house back up generator to make sure each stay is enjoyable even if there is an area wide power outage. \* The pool can be heated for an additional charge. There is a two-night minimum on pool heating which must be arranged through the local rental office at least two days before arrival. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 6 vehicles. 2 days notification is required in order to heat the pool. A fee of USD 152 per day must be paid prior to check-in to purchase pool heat for your stay. Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit. More information can be downloaded from the "Rental Agreement" on the checkout page. I had to start from my hotel at 3 AM to make it to this location before dawn. Botany Bay Plantation is a nature preserve and has regulated visitor hours. Gates open 30 minutes before sunrise - I wish they'd open a little sooner as the golden hour is pretty much more than half way done by the time one can make it to the beach. Nevertheless, it's a great location to visit at sunrise, especially if there are high clouds to add drama. Recommended to visit when the tide is ebbing as you then get the shadows of the trees, which to my eyes add more depth to the image. On this day, there was a bank of low clouds that prevented too much color but it was a great sunrise to witness nonetheless. The trees have so much character and add so much to the image. After a long trip, checking was a breeze and the house looked awesome. Had a great first night, after our arrival. Then things turned south. We noticed some ants (big ones) in one of the upper bathroom. Ok, could happen. Imagine you're six years old, you turn on the bathtub faucet and over 20 large ants burst out into the tub. Not fun. Then you go downstairs and find a cockroach on the stairs. A live cockroach. We called the management. They called the pest management company. The gentlemen from Apex Edisto was super nice and professional. Found the source in the attic of the carpenter ants and the roaches. Sprayed the stuff, and as explained, ants were coming down for the next day or two. Given our long trip and plans, we did not leave. We moved fully to the first floor, a family of four crammed in one bedroom. Watching and fighting ants coming down. This can happen; maybe. However: (i) nobody from the management company said even "we're sorry" and (ii) we realized, thanks to the pest management guy, that there were ant traps placed all over both bathrooms -- upper corners, corners behind the bins, etc. It felt like a trap on visitors. Anybody who set a foot to the property must have seen the ants, there were many. The traps placed upstairs suggest the ants were not a sudden incident. We don't remember the rental ad mentioning ants & roaches but they were there and expecting us. We informed the local vacasa manager about all this but haven't heard back from him since. We fell into a trap. No communication from the management. At the end, we were glad our stay wasn't too long and we could leave. ##### Veronika A. Instantly felt comfortable upon arrival to the home which is sometimes hard going to an unknown place. Would absolutely recommend to a family with teens and younger children. Spacious backyard and pool and walking distance to the beach makes it perfect.
