Spacious Room, Great Food, but not family-friendly Stayed at Novotel Edinburgh Centre for three nights with my family, including a tween and a 5-year-old. The room was spacious and modern, but not suitable for families with small children. Separate toilet without water for hand washing was impractical for kids needing assistance. Lack of a hand shower in the bathtub made bathing difficult without getting ourselves wet. Additionally, no latch for privacy in the bathroom or toilet, coupled with non-opaque doors, made it inconvenient for families. Temperature control was inadequate, leaving us hot and uncomfortable at night. A broken fridge exacerbated the issue, emitting heat instead of cooling our food sufficiently. On the upside, the restaurant food was excellent with a variety of options for breakfast. Kids enjoyed the fun of cooking their own waffles. Staff were helpful and attentive. Overall, while the food and staff were commendable, the room layout and amenities were not family-friendly.

This isn't our first Novotel! We stayed twice some years ago in one in Madrid and loved it. So immediately selected this one and we weren't wrong! The hotel is amazing, clean, nice, perfectly located and the breakfast is spectacular. You can even see the Castle! There's a hop on hop off stop right across. Totally recommended! Oh also, bring a swim suit! Warm indoor pool!

Although this will seem negative, it really should just read as average. I probably won't stay here again as there are other better properties, to my taste, in the immediate area. This was definitely a corporate property. It seemed like every penny was being counted. No wash cloths, adds everywhere for bonus points for not using services. Pass cards and tokens needed to use various facilities, not just available with your room key. We requested additional towels and they were never delivered. I had to ask housekeeping for some off the cart. The staff was universally very nice, the facility was clean, so ultimately an acceptable stay but not exceptional. Also problematic was the ubiquitous perfume/deodorizing scents. Very irritating.

Great overall experience! Only thing I would say was that some things in the room do need to be replaced, for examples the carpet did have multiple stains. Other than that, everything was great, I would recommend!

Excellent location allows to walk in all of the city. Good rooms. Good breakfast. Parking is available also but limited spaces and has EV charging which is a bonus.

We arrived a little early for the checking in and was told to take a seat in reception at someone from check on would call us at the allocated check in time. This didn't happen so at 3pm there was a massive influx of people so had to queue up for around 45mins to check in. When we finally got to the room, the it was dirty. Bits of skin on bed, dead fly's on window, brown stains on carpet. The bathroom was filthy. So we complained and was told that another room would be allocated. Another 30 minutes later we were given alternative room. But this was also just as bad. We went to the reception to complain that this was not good enough to be told there was nothing further they could do, but they would happily give us a refund and asked us how quickly we could get our bags together. Baring in mind this was a Friday evening just as the school half term holidays were starting, and we have a teenage son, so walking round the streets of Edinburgh on on Friday night with no where to go was not an option, so basically told to put up with it. This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Do not stay here if there are rooms available else where.

While the hotel was one of the more affordable options for the location, as a family we had some issues. The rooms really were very small. The heating was not good. You don't have any control over the heat/cooling of your room... so even when we turned the heat off and opened the windows the room was still very hot. There was a ticking noice in the room. We did have a door issue, but the staff sorted that out. Overall, while we had a lovely get away, out hotel experience wasn't great.

Room was cold couldnt heat without calling room service reall pain. Kept waiting for over an hour for room to be ready. Not really a 4 star facility. Bathrobes old and tatty obviously seen lots of use one was ripped. TV reception dreadfull kept going off and on. Room design awfull. The separate toilet had no hand wash facility so had to go into shower room to do so dirtying all door handles in process. And design such that no privacy door facing right out into the room uuuugh. As said not what we expect from traditional 4 star hotels no concerge nothing ! bathrobes slippers etc big let down just supplied as gimmick.

I was really impressed. Used my Tesco vouchers and found whole process really simple. Hotel is back side of castle but beautiful walk and only ten mins by foot. Pool is lovely though quite cold. Kids didn’t mind. Room was basic but comfortable and had everything we needed as a family of four. Reception staff wasn’t very knowledgeable about recommending somewhere to eat but just used trip advisor instead. Overall really happy with our stay.

Overall, and excellent hotel. Only thing we didn't like was the shower. It's some sort of modern design and you there's no sliding door, there's no shower curtain, so it's hard not to get water all over the floor.

First time staying in this hotel!! Beautiful decor, very modern, but, still very cosy!! Lovely bar area!! Reception area was beautiful!! Staff very friendly!! Rooms very clean a bed comfortable!! Was close to the castle!! So ideal for what we were looking to do!! Would recommend it!! Will defo be back next year, hopefully!!
