The open floor plan, soaring cathedral ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling walls of glass create a captivating ambiance. The property is located in a high-end neighborhood within walking distance to South Beach, making it an ideal location for beach lovers. The highlight of the property is the beautifully landscaped backyard, featuring an oversized 18x40 heated saltwater pool with a bluestone surround, lounge chairs, and a fire pit. Guests can enjoy days at the beach and return home to swim in their private pool. In the evenings, they can gather around the fire pit, cook smores and gaze at the beautiful starlit sky. The house can comfortably accommodate two families with its four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms are master suites with private bathrooms, while the fourth bedroom has its own bathroom (just not ensuite). Each bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer for guests' convenience. The bedrooms are furnished with large flat-screen TVs. The beds will be made and ready for guests upon arrival. We use a Professional linen rental company that has the equipment, expertise, and processes in place to ensure that your linens are clean and in good condition. Multiple large wrap-around decks on all levels offer great outdoor space for relaxation and entertainment. The 32' high great room with vaulted ceilings and a large screen TV serves as a central gathering area. A beautiful marble fireplace with a large screen TV creates a focal point from both the living room and dining room. The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and all the necessary kitchen essentials. It features a breakfast bar with stools and is open to the dining area, which seats 10 people. In addition to the main living areas, there is an additional first-floor family room with a large flat-screen TV and a wall of glass that leads to another private deck. This deck opens directly to the saltwater heated pool, providing easy access for guests. Towels and beach towels are provided for guests to enjoy their beach outings. The property includes a garage for storing bikes and other items guests want to keep safely indoors. A large circular driveway with beautiful gardens completes the exceptional features of the property. The location of the property in Katama offers several advantages. This is a great property in a great location, just a short walk from South Beach and less than an hour walk into Edgartown. House is beautiful and comfortable. Our family group consisted of three couples, and in this house each couple had their own floor with deck. Pool is large, nice and beautifully lit at night. Side back yard offered a nice space for some whiffle ball tournaments. We had a couple of minor problems during our stay which were immediately addressed by owner and caretaker. The pictures don't reveal how large it is but it is huge. It is long and deep enough to swim laps or in an infinite oval similar to a jogging track. My family used it everyday and it was warm enough even in the early morning and evening. The grill was fantastic and allowed us to have a great cook out. The house had all the utensils needed for a fabulous cozy dinner. In addition, the house came with beach chairs, coolers, and an umbrella so we had the perfect beach outing. Did I mention the house is within walking distance to the beach? The design of the house is unique and the owner was very response to every issue we had. The location is perfect, the pool was large and the house was clean, spacious and well appointed. We had a great week! There were a few minor issues (normal) and the property manager and owner were super responsive. Two small items of note: the master is a loft format that is open to the living area below (there is no door). Also, due to COVID-19, they are using a commercial linen service which provides clean sheets, towels and bed spreads. There are ample beach towels. The description was very accurate and the house was perfect for our family of 10\. It was very clean and spacious with areas for others to hang out other than the main living space. Our June vacation was great – house was very clean, beautifully decorated, spacious and comfortable for our large family, and provided everything we needed. We loved the layout of the house and especially appreciated that most of the bedrooms have private bathrooms. We had very little reason to leave the house and spent most of the time using the beautiful swimming pool since our children are young and don’t like to swim in the ocean. We enjoyed cooking on the barbecue in the evenings and sitting by the fire pit while our kids roasted marshmallows. The owners are so nice, very responsive, and provide a book full of recommendations of things to do and places to go on the island. My friend and my best friend's family stayed at 9 Thaxter Lane in the Spring of 2016 with our young children and had a fabulous vacation. The home was immaculate and spotless upon our arrival (and I am a tough critic!) The house was very large, beautifully decorated, and provided more than enough space for both of our families. The open layout on the 2nd floor allowed me to prepare meals while still being able to interact with my family and friends. The kitchen was well stocked and provided me with everything that I needed to cook (although I'm by no means a professional chef!) We look forward to visiting in 2017 and are especially excited about the new pool.
