Water view, hot tub, close to town, fire pit. LAST MINUTE AVAILABILITY July 20-27, 2024 (ferry reservations can also still be made as spaces open up for booking 2 weeks and 2 days in advance) Orcas Sunset Retreat is a beautifully curated house that comfortably accommodates up to 9 guests. Whether it be two families traveling together, a large extended family, a group of couples, or a Girl's Getaway, the layout and inviting common spaces will sure to make your stay relaxing. There is enough space for everyone to keep busy indoors and out. Bedrooms There are 3 bedrooms, all on the main floor (1 King, 2 Queens) + an upstairs sleeping loft (2 twins + fold-out couch) . We are permitted to sleep 9 guests. The Master and one of the Queen bedrooms boast ocean views. There are no shared walls between bedrooms, allowing for maximal privacy. The King and Queen bedrooms are all outfitted with high thread count, 100% cotton linens and brand new Casper memory foam mattresses. Each bedroom is tastefully designed to provide guests with a peaceful and luxurious refuge. Bathrooms: The house has 4 bathrooms. The en-suite master includes his/her sinks, a large soaking tub and walk-in shower. The three other bathrooms are all adjacent to each of the bedrooms (every bedroom can have its own bathroom!). All bathrooms are stocked with plush towels and all-natural shampoo/conditioner/body wash. Kitchen: We love cooking on vacation, so have made sure the kitchen is well stocked with quality cookware, chef's knives, and a plentitude of dishes and serving pieces. Appliances include a Viking stove, Bosch refrigerator and TWO dishwashers. We have covered all the basic appliances including coffee pot, french press, coffee grinder, toaster, blender, microwave, hand mixer, griddle, and crock pot. We also try to keep a supply of spices, oil, flour/sugar on hand as well, along with foil and saran wrap. Living Room: The living room is a large open concept living room with gas fireplace, ocean views, and plenty of comfy space for everyone to gather. There is a Smart TV ready for you to login to your Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, etc.. accounts, as well as a Bluetooth speaker. Or, you can spin a record on the Popsky turnable! Dining area: The dining room features a farmstyle, live-edge solid teak dining table brought in from Indonesia. It seats 8+ with 6 chairs and one long bench. It is perfect for family meals and/or board games. There are also 4 stools at the kitchen island for additional seating, as well as an outdoor dining table for summer meals al fresco. Loft: The upstairs loft has two twin beds with memory foam toppers and one fold-out sofa. This is a fun hang out for the kids with the couch, large bean bag chair, and TV (with Amazon fire stick) & DVD player. We have a ton of books, games, dress up clothes, and DVDs to keep kids busy when not out exploring the island and outdoors. Further, the loft has its own air conditioner (sometimes needed in the summer) and sky lights, keeping the room light & bright. Fortunately, this space is comfortable and cute enough that adults won't mind sleeping there if needed. Study: The main floor study provides a desk and leather chair if work is calling. This is also where you'll find find a selection of books, games, and puzzles. Outdoor space: The Orcas Sunset Retreat is situated on 3 private acres boasting magnificent ocean views, an expansive lawn, forested areas on the perimeter, and even a small sping-fed pond. Spotting wildlife such as deer, ducks, and bald eagles are everyday experiences. In the ocean view backyard, you will be spoiled with a large outdoor deck with dining table, gas grill, patio with fire pit & adirondack chairs, and hot tub. In the front, enjoy relaxing on the front porch swing or spending time relaxing by the spring-fed pond. \*\* The pond is located in the front of the property approximately 100 ft from the house. It is not appropriate for swimming and does not have a fence surrounding it. I traveled with 4 children ranging from 1 year old to 4.5 and 4 other adults. Each family had their own private bedroom and bathroom to use and there was a great space for the kids to hang out to watch videos (good for sleeping too but due to their age and the stairs they didn’t do overnights up there). The kitchen was very well appointed, everything we needed to cook lovely meals, we even used the gas grill one evening. Fire pit and hot tub added to the overall outdoor experience and the kids loved playing on the hillside in the back yard. We were a quick drive to town (grocery store, book store, coffee shop, etc…) and about a 20 min drive to the state park which we visited nearly everyday for a variety of activities. Our hosts provided us with a great list of recommended activities (we did all but one) and left some really thoughtful gifts and a card for us on arrival. I would highly recommend this home for a stay on Orcas Island. The house and location are so perfect I never want to leave, except there is so much to explore on the Island. We particularly enjoyed the pickle ball this time and played for hours. This home was everything we needed it to be. The view, the comfort, the wonderful things that kept a family of 7 (all adults) entertained. Close enough for easy access to the town but also tucked away in a tranquil forest that is very calm and serene with stunning views of the water. The fire pit, hot tub, pickle ball court and board games were fun touches! It was peaceful, comfortable, well supplied and met us with a glorious view to the west! We enjoyed fires in the fireplace and evening dips in the hot tub under the stars. Beds and linens were great quality and comfortable. Kitchen well stocked with just the right amount of good quality cookware, etc. We would stay again. Thanks Lori! ##### D M S. Excellent kitchen with every appliance you would need. It was so nice that each couple had their own bathroom. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area with beautiful views of the water and the sunsets were gorgeous. We were unable to use the Solo Stove due to fire restrictions. It you are staying in the area we would recommend Orcas sailing company. Captain Nat is the best! The house is well equipped for children. ##### Barbara I. This house is absolutely spectacular! It was perfect for our family trip to Orcas. The views are gorgeous, and the house was well-stocked with everything we could possibly need for cooking and enjoying the property. From the large back deck and its water & sunset views to the fire-pit area, to the comfy living room with gas fireplace, a big dining table, and the upstairs loft w/TV, the kitchen island while cooking, the hot tub, and even the front porch or pond area. It all made for a very pleasant, relaxing, no-hassle stay. . Our only issue with this very well located house near Eastsound and other Orcas attractions were the single bed mattresses in the loft. They just were not up to par (with a uncomfortable topper sliding off what appeared to be an old, spent thin mattress) and were not suitable for adults. Definitely felt like an afterthought/for children’s accommodations. Two v. minor gripes here, but the kitchen knives very desperately need to be sharpened. And it would be great if, among the other basics the Hosts have stocked in the pantry, that Olive Oil be a standard item, esp. when the Host makes a point of noting their well appointed kitchen… which, in general, it is.
