"Room was great and close to shopping & eateries."
The room was very nice & comfortable; I stayed in a king standard suite and liked the room layout with the vanity in the middle of the floorplan. I did not eat so I cannot speak to breakfast buffet. Housekeeping services were barely noticeable so I did not tip.
Staff was poor. When I arrived, gentleman at desk was clearly busy doing something on the computer and was unprofessionally hunched over it. Check-in was quick--too quick. He handed me room key and said absolutely nothing--not my room number, not how to find it, not how to find the elevators, nothing about breakfast hours, parking or alternate entrances to the hotel.
When I left the first morning, I left my cell phone behind. I called to ask if I could either have my room marked as "do not disturb" or to have management retrieve my phone. Management assured me it would be fine and I respectfully declined to leave it in my room. I was reassured that my phone was not going to disappear and I reiterated that I appreciated his confidence, but I was asking for assistance with an alternative because his assurances were not consistent with my experiences over years of travel. He took offense to my concerns and offered no solutions. Fortunately, my phone was still in my room.

The atrium was beautiful! Our bed definitely needed to be replaced. It was sagging in the middle. The continental breakfast was ok. We couldn't get in our room because the lock got jammed. I have stayed at other La Quinta Inn's that were maintained much better.
The breakfast we had on the first day was not so great. There wasn't any fruit juice at all and the only eggs were an omelet that was terrible. There wasn't anything to drink but coffee. I don't like coffee.
