Værelset var koldt.

Posted 15-Feb-2017
Vi boede på værelset i februar og oplevede det så koldt, at vi henvendte os i receptionen, hvor forklaringen var at der blev lukket/skruet ned for varmen i dagtimerne til kl. 18.00. I øvrigt virkede værelset noget slidt!

Used to be good, but not any more. Stay Elsewhere!

Posted 13-Feb-2017
Pros: The Decor and location was nice, the bar had friendly staff and was a nice area in which to sit.
Cons: The customer service of the reception and management. The second room we were upgraded to was clean, but very tired, worn and dated.
Location: The location is good, it is on the seafront, with the pier and some nice restaurants close by.
When we arrived, we enquired at reception about the parking and told the receptionist that we were parked on the seafront, and asked whether there was a permit required, or do we pay at the ticket machine. She told us that after 6pm parking is free, and all day Sunday. We were pleasantly surprised and she again told us that all day Sunday parking is free. IT'S NOT! We, and a lot of other people who ran out of breakfast in the morning when we all saw the parking attendant, got parking tickets. When we raised this with the manager, she couldn't care less and said we should have read the signs (which we would have done if we hadn't been told twice it was free) and there is nothing she can do, and as for the reception staff saying it's free that couldn't have been right as they've been here a couple of months and know it's not. THE MANAGER BASICALLY CALLED US LIARS! The "standard double" room we had booked was nothing more than a broom cupboard. These rooms have been thrown together very hastily and very cheaply. The small double bed almost touched all 4 walls. We went back to reception and had to pay £20 for a better room. It's the middle or February, there were several other rooms available. Next was the fire alarm going off at 3:40am. In the morning we were offered no apology or explanation as to why this happened. The breakfast was sub par. We've stayed here a few times before and it has been good, but they are now using very cheap, poor quality ingredients.

Ok but could be so much better

Posted 13-Feb-2017
If you want budget and good location then this is the choice to go for. But if you want top facilities and friendly excellent sevrvice then I would not recommend. We had to be moved several times as they mistook our request for a twin room and put us in a double. We were then put in a room with no cold water or heating and had to be moved again. I woke up with an aching back so the mattress could do with replacement. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, probably not the staff's fault but added to poor experience.

Pros: Bar meals ok,good for disabled
Cons: There is obviously a lack of customer service, saying hello,or morning doesn't cost anything, for a 4 star, very poor,it would be nice to get a response
Location: as my wife is disabled it was, just to get away,so spent most of time in hotel
when we checked in we were not advised to carry comp slip we had been given,as this then proved to be an issue when trying to put things on room tab,as bar would not except we were staying there even though we had a pass key for room. The staff were sullen,no acknowledgement, morning afternoon, nothing. The toilets in the reception area were disgusting, the Gents had towels on the floor and sink area Saturday night, and still there Sunday morning, toilets not cleaned,my wife said the ladies were just as bad with only one cubicle clean to use. After a minor op during week,my arm bled while in bed Friday night, only to find sheets not changed Saturday morning,we found an empty sinus spray box under bed when leaving Sunday morning, when checking out again there was no good morning,or even morning,as we decided to eat and drink mainly in the hotel, the barman kept walking away with customers at bar, with no discussion as what he was doing, they had to go and get food for customers themselves leaving the bar empty.

We paid for an upgrade Disappointing

Posted 5-Feb-2017
We paid for an upgrade because our booked room didn't have a window. Although the hotel wasn't busy we were given a room on the fourth floor. The room was in. need of decoration. The bathroom was lovely but was up four steep stairs..We are both in our seventies and found it very difficult to access. Had we had the energy we could have taken our luggage back to reception and asked for another room but we didn't find the reception staff at all helpful. We were in room 416,

Good hotel on sea front

Posted 3-Feb-2017
Pros: It used to be a very good hotel, but now is overpriced
Cons: Bring back the old staff, they were always there to help
Location: Ideal seafront location, with pleasant walks along the promenade. The shopping centre is walking distance away. There is a good bus service.
We have been staying at this hotel for the past 6 years. We normally have a qutie large room with side sea view, which we paid £80 a night including breakfast. The hotel has since changed hands and when I contacted them this year the price had gone up to £120 !!!! The staff were always very friendly and helpful. We were so disappointed this year as we booked through you and our room was a small tucked at the back overlooking the car park. Added to the fact you could not see out of the bathroom window due to pigeon mess and their constant noise. I was sure I had booked for breakfast, but when we went down they said we had not paid, they were not helpful and they told me we had only paid £69 for the first night, then £50 for the next two nights, when we had paid £69 for each night. Something went wrong, and as my partner is diabetic, he needed to have breakfast. The quality of the hotel has gone down even to the toiletries in the room. Unfortunately we both became ill and had to leave a day early and sadly we will not be returning, such a shame as it has such a good position on the front.

You get what you pay for

Pros: Clean. Friendly staff.
Cons: Window in bedroom - or at least prior warning that the economy rooms do not have a window so you can decide.
Location: Location brilliant. Beachy Head not far. Shops close by with plenty of eating places.
Watch out for the economy room! This is the only hotel we have ever stayed in where the room does not have a window! It felt as though we were underground. The bathroom ceiling was only the height of the doorframe so anyone taller than average would have had a problem in the shower which was over the bath. The mattress was not very comfortable and there was a fan going all night both in the bedroom and the bathroom to circulate the air. There was a big green night light glowing all night which lit the room up because it was so small. Having said this, the room was newly refurbished, reasonably furnished, although there were no drawers to unpack your clothes into, and very clean. Check before you book an economy room that you are not "underground"!
