New owners - not much improvement

Posted 24-Apr-2016
Pros: Good position on front opposite bandstand.
Cons: Air conditioning - rooms and corridors. Firmer beds.
Room not ready on arrival. Reception staff nonchalant. While room was good size, the room was always too hot, despite window wide open. No air conditioning option Bed too soft. Breakfast is very good.

Booked on line from abroad, again a dismal room.

Posted 16-Mar-2016
Pros: The location
Cons: Obviously a change of policy and management,
Location: My visit was a family matter, the location and things to do were irrelevant.
This was our 2nd stay at the hotel, and as on the first occassion we had a struggle at the reception desk to force a change of rooms. The original room was dark and dismal, backing onto a brick wall. The "upgraded" room gave us a good view of a brick wall and some of the car park. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. We will not be returning to the Cavendish.

lovely hotel close to beach and shops

Posted 10-Mar-2016
Pros: Everything
Cons: An extra lift
Location: Beachy head not to far where you can have a drink/meal in the local pub, with lovely views and walks, pier just down the road, Arndale shopping centre
Great staff, lovely food, comfy room, would definitely recommend for a lovely relaxing stay

Catching up on the coast

Posted 8-Mar-2016
Pros: The dining room for breakfast and the reading room.
Cons: Any chance of a fixed price budget evening menu option.
Location: We had a particularly nice afternoon at Plumpton races and were lucky with the weather.
We enjoyed our stay, the hotel was clean and everything worked as it should. Very nice breakfast both days in the rather fabulous dining room, we didn't dine at the Hotel as it was too expensive for us. The reading room was a surprise and thoroughly enjoyed a bit of quiet time in there catching up with a book and the paper. The staff were excellent and a particular mention for Nora who was patient and very helpful with our parking arrangements and other general/local information.

The hotel is lovely. Staff issues - had to wait 15 minutes for a drink when 2 staff members were seeing to one customer. On a Sunday had to wait for a table in the restaurant which was not a problem then waited 10 minutes to bring the coffee over then to be told while we were eating that the breakfast is closing so grab what u want now, really rushes when this was not our thought that the restaurant was busy.

Seafront Hotel pleasant Reception/Bar - no service

Posted 6-Mar-2016
Pros: Seafront location
Cons: Service, Spa facilities opening, Restaurant Food and Watress service
Location: Eastbourne Harbour
A romantic weekend planned. Parking is possible behind the hotel for £4 per night, or you can get a parking permit from Hotel at £1 a night. Check every permits details - inspectors are about! The Receptionist was welcoming and check in was effective. The reason we had booked the Cavendish is it was our anniversary and we had saved up for more of a luxury break than a B&B, and it had some Spa facilities unlike the other hotels. I was advised that on Tuesday 1st March the Spa had closed a few hours early (mid afternoon, closure is usually 8pm) and on the Wednesday it was closed, thus I could not enjoy the facilities I had booked for. The room was adequate, TV / Hairdryer / Trouser Press. The bed was comfortable though we were in room 433 next to corridor / lift and loud fans outside, needless to say there was lots of noise and it was extremely warm everywhere. The bathroom was nice, good power shower and nice products, however the shower curtain is 3 inches short of the bath so the floor gets wet! The next morning we head to the Dining Room where we join a queue of three couples. Our experience during breakfast started in frustration, but in the end we had to laugh and wonder what was going to happen next. The couple behind us had been seated at a table set for two but with one cup, and the waitress questioned why they wanted another cup! No service at this Hotel, we left after night 1 of 3

An enjoyable Eastbourne weekend at the Cavendish

Posted 23-Feb-2016 on Hotels
The Cavendish Hotel was a great base from which to explore the museums and galleries along the South coast. The staff were helpful and friendly, the room spacious, tidy and very clean, with all the usual facilities for tea, coffee etc. It also offered tremendous view.
