We love getting out of the Florida heat and relaxing on the lake. The grandkids love kayaking and fishing. The area is so full of nature. Last year we had moose and deer wander the property. This year we watched a pair of ducks visit every day as well as a beaver. We had several deer make their way through the woods. It is so peaceful just to sit out on the covered porch even in the rain. The house has plenty of space so with 8 of us we were never crowded. Owners have provided lots of the amenities. There is a lake view from the huge porch, fire circle and even kayaks. The house has excellent bedroom and living spaces. Great kitchen and even a kids playroom. Property is secluded but not too far from things. I would take this property any day over other coastal properties we visited. We counted and realized this place could sleep up to 14 people in beds so not including any sofas, foldouts or porch hammock which I enjoyed one night. Don’t miss this one. ##### Brian M. We came to Machias to go to my grandson’s high school graduation. Six of us came from Florida and the others were from Maine. The house was a perfect size for our family. We spent a majority of the time out on the deck. The weather was gorgeous for us. We were even given the opportunity to witness the wonderful wildlife in the area. We had two moose wander through the yard on one occasion. Then we had two deer come through twice. This was amazing. My youngest grandson who is 6 was able to wade in the lake and chase after bullfrogs. They did a little fishing and some kayaking as well. The kids took advantage to the trials and rented a side by side. This was an amazing property to enjoy the outdoors. The owners were available for any issues. We wanted to show our children the beauty of Maine and this house was the perfect place to call home while we were there! We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. The house had everything we needed for our stay - plenty of room for our family, well appointed kitchen, comfy beds and couches, and nice and clean. We loved spending time sitting on the porch looking out on the lake. My youngest especially loved the hammock. We had a fire in the fire pit one night and we were lucky to have a clear sky another of the nights we were there - we got to see more stars than we have ever seen before. We had a lot of sights we wanted to see, but if we had wanted to, we could've easily kept ourselves entertained at the house the whole time we were in Maine. There are plenty of board games, yard games, movies, and they also have kayaks and life vests available for use. Our hosts even did a little something special to acknowledge our anniversary which we found very thoughtful. It was an easy drive to all the places we wanted to visit - Jasper Beach, Roque Bluff, Lubec and West Quoddy Head, Campobello Island, and Eastport to see Old Sow and eat at Fisherman's Wharf. Also, it was nice to be "away from it all" while still being just a short drive from Machias for restaurants (especially Helen's - pie, pie, pie) and grocery shopping at Hannaford's.
