Whether you’re planning a family getaway, a multi-generational trip, or a relaxed break with friends, Punga Cottage is designed for quality time together. Enjoy spacious open-plan living, effortless indoor-outdoor flow, and a sunny deck ideal for alfresco dining and evening chats under the stars.

• Main bedroom and bathroom (with laundry) located on the upper entry level for easy access  
• Downstairs features a second bedroom plus a pull-out sofa bed — great for kids, teens, or extended family  
• Stay comfortable year-round with a heat pump, panel heater, and a handy extra WC outside  
• Surrounded by established trees and low-maintenance landscaping for a peaceful, natural feel  
  
Lovingly maintained as a cherished family escape, Punga Cottage has been the backdrop for many joyful memories — outdoor dining on the deck on the deck to cosy board games on rainy days. Now it’s your turn to experience the calm, the comfort, and the charm of this special bay retreat.  
  
Tucked away in the peaceful bayside community of Duvauchelle, Punga Cottage offers a serene escape surrounded by native bush, established trees, and panoramic hill and bay views. Just a short drive from the heart of Akaroa and only 74 km from Christchurch, this is the perfect base to explore the beauty of Banks Peninsula.  
  
Wake up to the sound of native birdsong — tūī, bellbirds, and fantails are regular visitors — and enjoy the quiet rhythm of nature all around. Whether you're enjoying breakfast on the sunny deck or an evening walk along the bay, the peaceful setting makes it easy to unwind.  
  
Duvauchelle also offers a local café, a boat ramp, and a golf course just minutes away. Explore charming Akaroa with its French heritage, shops, galleries, harbour cruises, and waterfront dining — all just a 10-minute drive from the cottage.  
  
Please note: the driveway is steep and tight, and the final section of road is unsealed, so take care when arriving, especially in wet weather.  
  
The first set of steps leading to the property does not have a handrail, which may be challenging for guests with limited mobility.
