Classic Colorado Log Cabin - Unmatched Views of Engineer Mtn - 3 Mins to Purg

Our custom built 2,6000 square foot, 5 -bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home is newly updated and furnished. This classic log home is located in Hermosa Meadows, the residential neighborhood adjacent to Cascade Village, less than 2 miles north of Purgatory Resort and 26 miles from downtown Durango.

This is a rare opportunity to rent a newly updated luxury home yet have access to the free on-site amenities at Cascade Village including an indoor heated pool, sauna, outdoor/indoor hot tubs, pool table, outdoor tennis court, and ski rental shop (with discounts). The home is immediately adjacent to national forest land with hiking, cross country skiing, mountain biking, four wheeling, fly fishing and a host of other wilderness activities just out the back door.

This residence features a wrap-around deck with amazing views of the Needles Mountains, the signature range of 14,000-foot peaks the Purgatory area is known for, as well as Spud and Engineer Mountains.

Please note, due to HOA regulations, this unit, and all of the units at Cascade Village, are NOT pet friendly.

Cascade Village is less than 2 miles north of Purgatory Resort, 26 miles (less than 30 minutes) north of Durango and 25 miles south of Silverton (less than 30 minutes). Free on-site amenities at Cascade Village including an indoor heated pool, sauna, outdoor/indoor hot tubs, pool table, outdoor tennis court, and ski rental shop (with discounts).

Purgatory offers a complimentary ski shuttle to our Cascade rental guests on a set schedule 1-2 times in the AM and PM during the ski season, on a first come first serve basis. Details will be provided in your rental instructions.

All of the Cascade Village units are equipped with reliable Fiber Optic internet service with an average internet speed of up to 50 Mbps and guests can stream their favorite movies and TV shows on their preferred provider (e.g. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime) using the smart TVs in the unit. With fast and reliable fiber optic WIFI, guests can stream on multiple devices. Cable TV is not available in any units at Cascade Village.

As with all properties in the area, the condo does not have AC. Given the day times highs are rarely above 80 while the lows are in the 40s. Open the windows after the sun is behind the mountains and close them in the morning along with the blinds that face west. This will keep the house plenty cool.

Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any such changes will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.

We came in from Texas with friends and family for a week of Jeeping in the mountains and had a fabulous time!! The house was perfect, well appointed, clean, and exactly as described. Be aware that it's three stories and the main floor is the second story, so there will be lots of stairs involved. great place - one big note- please get rid of all the super bright white bulbs in the bedroom and living room . youcan get the same energy efificient ones in WARM temperature- like the old tungston bulbs. turning the lights on felt like being in a WALMART. not very welcoming after a long day!. thanks

We enjoyed lots of family time. Great place for a family reunion. If my sister and her husband had not owned a townhouse, we would not have known about dining or activities in the area. Would have liked being given info on usage rules etc. for use at Cascade Village. We found no sign -in book or info in the house. Also house was not clean, windows were not clean (lots of fingerprints and dust). Garage and porch need wholesale cleaning. We loved being together but the state of the kitchen was awful. We found pans, lids, baking sheets and utensils in four different locations. Once I spent a few hours cleaning and arranged things somewhat, at least we could cook meals. We hope these are helpful suggestions. We have stayed in many VRBO houses so expected this lovely home to be of similar quality! It was in size and location but just lacked some attention in cleanliness.

The managers provided great customer service and sent a repair person out to fix a minor issue with the disposal the same day. The views from the house were outstanding and it was so much fun to watch the birds, deer and marmots just outside. The location was perfect for us as we were hiking and fishing in the area between Purgatory and Silverton. The only annoyance was the sewer line construction project going on during the daylight hours, but they were moving quickly along - maybe they will be done by the end of the summer 2021. The house was perfectly set up with two bedrooms on the ground floor, two on the upper floor and one on the main floor. Good for families coming in from different time zones! Thanks for sharing your house!

We enjoyed our stay at this property. The house was very clean and I appreciated the extra nice toiletries and having lots of cushy towels. We ended up cutting our trip two and a half days short though, because the house is currently positioned very close to a substantial amount of construction (a new sewer line and road running all along the entire side of the resort areas property, which includes the use of major construction equipment) and it is loud - so loud that our 2yr old daughter couldn’t nap, and it was hard on everyone. I wish the property would have mentioned this in the posting, we would have not spent $3,000 to only go for half the time. The house is also fairly close to the major road (“highway”) and we were there on a weekend that there was non-stop motorcycle and truck noise. We picked this location because the pictures made it look very remote, and were hoping for a quiet spot away, and it definitely wasn’t that. However if you are looking to be right off the major road and super close to Purgatory, then this spot would be great. Just wasn’t what we were hoping for.

Reviewer Comments: We booked this property for a family trip of 5 couples plus 2 young children for 4 days following Labor Day, and the experience was great. The house was beautiful, clean and comfortable, well stocked, with wonderful wrap around windows and porches. The loft had a pullout bed and was used for the 5th bedroom. Though the loft didn't provide as much privacy, it still worked great. The pool and hot tub at the clubhouse were great, and we also used an open field by the clubhouse for outdoor games. Durango is about a 30-minute drive where we bought groceries and visited a couple nice restaurants. There were also some smaller markets and places to eat between the property and Durango. The house had an outdoor grill, and the kitchen had plenty of dishes and utensils for all of us. The location was great for access to Silverton, Ouray, and Telluride. We had occasional difficulty connecting to the internet and contacted property management who walked us through possible fixes. The issue may have been that we had multiple family members alltrying to access at the same time. In the end, it worked fine. Prior to arrival, we received thorough instructions for check-in, check-out, and use of the property and amenities. Overall, we were very pleased, had a great time, and have no complaints.

We have had an amazing long weekend in CO with family and friends. As CO being our backyard and how beautiful it is at this point of the year. The property by itself is so beautiful, lovely location and very close from where we live. The day we reached there was late in the night, so everyone of us waking up to the views was an exciting thing to start with, Kids were very happy too.But there are so many unpleasant experiences there in the weekend home. Taking this time out of our busy lives to address few things which made us think for a moment that we are paying 50$ a night!Any soaps/hand wash/body wash are so diluted that there is no difference from tap water to the soap containers ( in the kitchen and in all the bathrooms ), toilet paper ( in all bathrooms ) and paper napkin in the kitchen area are the cheapest quality.It just felt like they don’t clean or maintain the property in between the parties that come to spend here. Microwave is dirty, oven is just disgusting ( it is on smoke after a while ), grill outside needs a lot of cleaning, there was time we had change of plans because we are tired of cleaning and cooking every single thing we had to use from there. It would have been easier for both of us if you mention that we have to carry our entire house to chill in the cabin for the stay! Most of all, fireplace is a huge mess when we got there, had to clean up the leftover soot and then work on the fire. ( which took forever ).Glad we have been provided with plenty of towels in the bath area. It is decorated very well. Looks good. Very nice to place to hangout if ONLY well maintained. Imagine me everyday standing helpless when my friends had to clean when the plan was to enjoy and I felt sorry to convince my friends and family to join me over the weekend. Forget about coming back, people will stop valuing our opinion if we start recommending places like this.<

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The activities in the area were fabulous. We loved the steam train, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking, ziplining, the mine tour in Silverton, & shopping. Our kids loved exploring along the nearby dirt road and the POOL! We also enjoyed the fire pit and being able to walk and hike nearby. The house was fully furnished with everything we needed. It was clean and there were enough beds for all 13 of us. And the views were fabulous along with the nearby wildlife. We definitely hated to leave!

This is a great spot my only criticism is that you don’t get to access the house until 4 pm on the day you arrive. Extremely clean, great layout and 1.7 miles from purgatory. 2 bedrooms and full bath on top floor. Master bed and bathroom on main floor. 2 bedrooms and bath on lower floor.

It snowed heavily beginning the day we arrived and there was no salt at the house. it was delivered 4 days after we arrived. The guest beds were unanimously uncomfortable. There are ~100 dead flies along the top window ledge in main living area which prob have been there a very long time. Property managers replied to emails right away. There were sleds for the kids in the garage. We loved the location! Loved the view!
