Was quite a treat to stay at this authentic/historic hotel. Everything from the accents to the furnishings sends you back in time. Three separate dining options on the property, all with a different vibe. Staff were awesome, kind, and helpful! We took the train one of two days, and it's a quick 5 minute walk to the station from the hotel. I highly recommend riding the train if you haven't!

The hotel was a bit rundown, but the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. She even helped to get us water when the waitress was nowhere to be found in the restaurant. Husband and I enjoyed the live entertainment that they had in the evening.

This is a hotel with a great deal of character. The staff are great, the rooms ooze charm and the bars with food, drink and live music are to die for. Many original features have been retained so that staying here is a real experience.

The Hotel is really cool and unique! Beds were comfy and room was clean. The bathroom was really small and the room itself wasn’t very big. Location is great for doing things downtown

The clerk was rude and questioned if i was a guest. House keeping disturbed my sleep two mornings in a row. I moved a tv and they charged me $200. No breakfast included, will definitely not stay again.

Anthony, we are sorry that you were left feeling this way about our property. You visited during the 45th annual Snowdown celebration where visitors and locals are dressed in theme costumes for t a five-day celebration. The Strater tends to be very busy during this festival and we have lots of people who may or may not be our guests. We did not mean to offend you by asking if you were staying with us, it was simply a security measure. We provide service please/do not disturb sigs in each room. Our housekeeping staff is instructed to begin knocking on guest room doors at 9:30am. While we appreciate that you may have wanted the TV moved, in the process of doing so a cable connection was broken. We called you to discuss the matter and received your permission to charge the 200 damage fee.

Used to actually live in Durango and this is always a first choice when going back to visit. If you choose to not venture far, it provides all the amenities needed, but is also centrally located downtown, so is an easy walk to anything you want to do or see on Main Street.
