Lovely little hotel .
Very well organised hotel. Extremely efficient check in and a really nice restaurant. By far the best breakfast we've had post lockdown - and we have stayed in a good few hotels now during our staycation.

best in the town
Very welcoming young lady in reception Told us all the do’s and dont’s re COVID Sadly no hair dryer for my wife. Also we did mention that a light on the stairs wasn’t working between the 3rd and 4th floors, it was very dark, alas it did get rectified before leaving...very dangerous...

The view. The View.
The best thing is the stunning view over the harbour and the Loch. The room was comfortable enough and the staff were friendly and helpful. I thought the room was a little overpriced but to wake up to such a soul heartening vista was I guess the reason. Breakfast was very good with good quality ingredients and careful attention to safe practice in these strange times.

Friendly hotel with lovely staff. Clean rooms and Covid safe. Good breakfast but would be improved by better bread quality (was cheap, plain). Excellent restaurant. Great location. Would recommend

Modern re-furbished hotel, right on the harbour, with excellent outlook. Staff very pleasant with great food, freshly cooked and decent bar. Mega money spent on hotel, it seems, but some of the facilities don't work. Broken toilet seat, replaced mid-week but still very loose. Usual problems with crockery and cutlery not being checked for cleanliness after dishwasher cleaning but glasses spotless! Apparently it is very difficult to get local contractors to turn up to do the simple repairs. It was one of the chefs who replaced our toilet seat with one from staff quarters. Overall there was a good feeling with staff who seemed interested in looking after us. One of the major downside is that there is no resident's lounge to sit if weather is bad. Certainly would stay here again as other hotels nearby are very expensive and may be no better.

Had to insist on a hotel room rather then the Barge, which I didn't even know existed until I arrived. Room was very small, various little niggly things were not good, bathroom light broken, no mirror on dressing table,paid for king size bed, ended up with double, no lounge seating area to relax in. However, food was excellent, staff very friendly. Not sure about recommending to others apart from food, staff and cleanliness.

Up grade to loch view well worth it.
On returning to bar at 22:20 we were told the bar was closing in 10 minutes we asked could we have room service and was told no. We said it wouldn’t take longer than 10 mins to pour a wine & beer and was reluctantly served this one drink.

The service was great! The staff was friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay a good one. The rooms though small were adequate. The shower was hot and strong; and couldn't have felt better after a chilly afternoon. The dining room served extraordinarily delicious seafood. The entire property is beautifully designed and well put together; clean and softly contemporary.

I don't think the chips were hand cut, as specified, they were more like cooked from frozen and some were hard. The white bread very lightly toasted at breakfast had blue mould on it plus the waitress didn't even apologise and we had to ask for more fresh as she didn't bring any freshly toasted after our complaint, she also gave our breakfast to another couple and again no apology.

Lovely Small Hotel
We stayed at this hotel, which is in a beautiful little port, for 1 night on our way to Islay. We were given a lovely room and were impressed with the standard of this small hotel. We ate in the bar in the evening and also had breakfast the following morning, both meals were very good. This is a great stop off point if you need to catch the ferry at Kennacraig and also a great place to stay if you're touring the area.

Anchor Hotel
we had a very comfortable stay for 2 nights. We stayed here so that we could take a day trip to Islay, the ferry is only 10 minutes away. The room and bathroom were modern, and the restaurant and bar were bright and pleasant. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Nice hotel, close to everything.
Lovely room and the restaurant is quite good. We had to leave really early to make our ferry, the take away breakfast was terrific. Love the onion jam!! I would love to come back again and again.

Harbour Holidays
Lovely hotel with wonderful location on the harbour in Tarbert. In terms of dinner, cullen skink risotto and chicken stuffed with wild mushrooms and leeks were excellent. Breaded haddock and hand cut chips disappointing, as doubt fish was local, and chips very overcooked. Breakfast next day excellent, using local produce. Staff very cheerful and helpful.

Charming Anchor Inn
Anchor Inn is located right in the center of town of Tarbert facing the beautiful inlet filled with fishing boats. Beautifully picturesque, cozy, modern traditional style, clean, and a helpful staff.

Hotel was excellent location with great views. Check in was very quick and easy. Quite basic but all you needed was there. The blonde Hungarian girl was particularly nice and helpful. Breakfast choice was excellent and the meals served (we had lunch) in the restaurant were very large portions and tasted good. Highly recommend booking into Starfish just around the corner for a meal if you stay here.

Comfortable hotel convenient for ferries
Lovely view of the loch. Helpful reception staff. Hotel is old, so modern facilities have to be shoehorned into historic building, which is always a bit of a challenge. It is on the harbour next door to what we feared was a noisy pub, but clearly local noise restrictions work, as all was quiet by 11pm. The only real reservation I have is about the breakfast, which was truly awful. Rock hard poached eggs, deep fried sausage patties (ie not actual sausages) and lumpy porridge. They would do much better with a buffet breakfast rather than bothering to cook such awful food to order.

The hotel is in a good location right on the harbour in Tarbet. But there are many stairs. We asked for a room on a lower floor but were told all were full. We had paid for a large double but the window in the room would not close. It was actually installed incorrectly and could never have closed. We were then moved to a small room (so I guess the hotel was not full). We asked for a reduction in cost as this was the same size as our single friend's room but we paid $50 more. Surely the one extra breakfast did not cost $50! But they refused any discount.

Picturesque location.
Very charming hotel. Restaurant area extremely spacious, good facilities. Food was excellent - we had breakfast and dinner. Staff friendly. Room was quite big.We were top floor so quite hard working lugging bags upstairs. Carpets in hotel could do with a clean/upgrade. Overall recommended.

Hotel staff was great
We checked in pretty late in the evening and the only hotel staff was great. She seemed to be running the restaurant and the reception. We had to leave early to catch the ferry so would miss the hotel breakfast. She offered to pack lunches for us to pick up before we left and take on our trip. It was very nice of her and the lunches were great. Never had a hotel offer to pack me a lunch.

Beautiful hotel-in-a-boat!
My party reserved four standard rooms and were completely blown away when we were directed across the street from the actual hotel to a boat docked on the harbor which has been completely refitted into a four-bedroom hotel! The rooms were wonderful, spacious and comfortable, the views unbeatable. The boat didn't actually rock as it is not floating but sitting on the bottom of the bay with not enough water to move it. The restaurant in the main hotel building was top notch (unexpectedly so for a small town like Tarbert), and the pub next door had one of the best bar bands I've heard in a while. Both the hotel and Tarbert are highly recommended.

Well kept hotel, right on the pier.
Stayed for 1 night during the Seafood Festival. We arrived right on check in time - the room wasn't ready but it was no trouble as the reception staff put our stuff in a locked room and moved it over for us whilst we were out. Room at the back, not the nicest view but it was a comfy room for the night. Breakfast staff were very very cheery and helpful.

Interesting change
We stayed at Tarbert as an overnighter before catching the ferry to Islay and ended up staying 2 days and glad we did. The Kintyre Peninsular is both beautiful and full of history. The hotel consists of usual hotel rooms and an old barge which has been converted to 4 rooms over the road from the hotel (cabins) moored to the sea wall. Each has a porthole to the bay with the water view! The cabins are large, clean and interesting, the only downside would be if you struggle with stairs, they are a bit steep.
