Very friendly. Excellent location.

Posted 12-Jul-2017
Pros: Convenience and easy access. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed.
Cons: The rear patio is now under reconstruction.
Location: Visit Granville Island, English Bay, Stanley Park and the sea wall, the Aquarium, shops on Robson.
This restored old house is very comfortable, serves a very good cooked breakfast and provides snacks, sherry and soft drinks. The bed was very comfortable and our room (#8) had its own entrance and a small kitchen. The house is well located for walking to Stanley Park and the Granville Island ferries. There is free parking behind the house off the lane. The hostess (owner) and staff are very friendly and accommodating. The house is near many restaurants on Robson and Denman Streets.

Great location and people

Posted 8-Jul-2017
The Guest house is in a great location near many dining options, and walkable to many attractions. we used the bike sharing options from Mobi Bike to explore the city. A bike station is close to the guest house. B&B staff was very nice and food was very good. We will definitely consider staying here on future trips to Vancouver.

This "hotel" doesn't have a front desk

Posted 5-Jul-2017
Cons: Staff attitude, security, overall cleanliness of the facilities which includes the entrance and the garden. Needs a proper front desk.
Location: Near downtown.
I stayed at West End on the way back from a road road trip to Whistler from San Francisco. I chose to stay in this hotel because it is located in the West End neighborhood rather than downtown and its high room rate, $$$, made me feel comfortable that I would be fine here. Unfortunately when I arrived to my surprise I found that it didn't even have a front desk, but just a closed door and you have to ring a bell, an animal scat at the entrance which wasn't cleaned even by the time I left next morning. One of the two persons who was in charge was very unkind. Since I arrived around noon and the room wouldn't be ready till 3:00PM I wanted to use the restroom but they didn't even have a proper general restroom for the guests, so I had to use the staff restroom. When I arrived back at 3:15PM, she said that the second person was just finishing What made me most uncomfortable was the security of the hotel. The doors are unlocked with 4 digit codes. She told me my room number and the 4 digit code which was so generic that I could immediately guess everyone else's codes as well. In fact the codes didn't seem to change because they are associated to the room numbers. When I asked her about the previous people who would know the code, she bluntly replied "They left already". Finally, when I got the e-mail about my check-in experience from Expedia and replied that I was disappointed, I got a reply from someone who said the staff is available from 6AM-6PM.

I am so sorry you were not happy with your stay with us. As we are a heritage house there is no space in the front entrance to create a proper front desk as you would see in a hotel, however we do have staff working 6am-6pm and have a live in manager. There is only one room which you stayed in which has a door code instead of a key and this code does change on a regular basis, i am sorry if you got a different impression of this. I will certainly speak to the staff about their attitude as you say someone was unkind which is certainly not something that i ever hear about our staff. I hope you choose to stay another time and have the excellent experience the rest of our guests have at our establishment.

We stayed one night at the West End Guest House and we really enjoyed it. The entire house is full of charm and character. The room is clean, spacious and comfy. Couldn't ask for more.

I stayed for only 1 night. Pleasant house and staff. Made we welcome. Sit down breakfast with other residents felt different and unique from typical hotel experience. Would be nice if they also had some umbrellas handy for rainy days.

Very friendly staff, accommodating for early check in. Interesting rooms and common areas. Great location for walking everywhere in the downtown core. Definitely will be going back when I visit Vancouver!

A bespoke guesthouse in Downtown Vancouver.

Although more expensive than many guest houses, this one is a real gem. It's location is superb - in a quiet leafy road only a block away from Robson Avenue. Lounge and patio seating are comfortable and each day starts with a super freshly cooked breakfast giving all the guests a chance to meet one another. Although I had a small room it was clean and comfortable. Staff are extremely welcoming and helpful.

We loved our stay here! Daily breakfasts were amazing, company was pleasant, and the staff were incredibly kind. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful, easily accessible, and feels safe. Highly recommended.
