![St Mary's church - tower and porch St Mary's is judged by architectural historians to be of Saxon origin. The church is built of carstone and flint and has a round tower with an octagonal top, believed to once have been higher. Interestingly, the tower has no stairs as in very early times ladders were used to access the upper floors which explains the doorways in the east and west walls. An archway of Saxon construction links the tower to the nave. The font dates from the 14th century. There are two Saxon windows in the north and south walls. During the 19th century the windows were changed - a lancet window was being put in the north wall and on the south side two early English and Perpendicular windows were blocked up and another lancet window was added where there had been an early English window. « Sian, the landlady is wonderful -- friendly and extremely helpful. Hotel's.com said there are laundry facilities but this is not true. BUT Sian did our laundry for us. We stayed in the annex but no one who was mobility problems, or is tall or heavy should stay there -- it is difficult to maneuver under the low ceilings. »

« Le lieu est calme et reposant, la chambre propre et coquette. Rien ne manque, il y a même un petit frigo dans le hall. Les propriétaires sont sont très sympathiques. Le petit déjeuner serviteur préparé par la maîtresse de maison à l’assiette, est copieux et excellent avec des produits frais. Je recommande les muffins !! »

« Tibouche and Phillip are the perfect hosts and welcomed us into their charming home like family. We had a very friendly welcome from their loveable black Labrador Paddy too! The farmhouse is spacious and cosy with plenty of lovely paintings - many of which are Tibouche’s own accomplished work. She prepared a delicious hearty dinner for us and we chatted with them and other guests - and even played the piano! Such fun! We slept well in the huge double room - all spotlessly clean, and had our own...
