Liked! Views are Amazing, pool is Beautiful, but could have alot mor seating or sunbeds! Rooms are comfortable! Dislikes! No Breakfast, poor management or not enough staff at restaurant/ bar, server mould smell entering my room & bathroom vent was overloaded with dust so ventilation fan didn't work! Cheap appliances, need more activities, shops walking distance!

There was nobody to greet us at all since we arrived after 4pm. When we called we were told that our room was left unlocked and to go on in. The bathroom smelled of sewer. The beds were very uncomfortable and we suspect there were bedbugs. We also had a cockroach visitor. It appeared that there had been an attempt to clean the place but it is very run down and needs a lot of work.

Hotel pool and surrounds were fantastic! Restaurant served excellence food at a very reasonable price. Rooms were old and in desperate need of updating, i have doubts theyd even been cleaned as the floor was filthy! AC didnt work which is very poor for Mackay and hard to find anyone at reception to have this rectified. Overall ok but AC is a must!! Ro

Hi Paul, The room you were in has since had a refurbishment which was scheduled. Reception always has a phone number to ring and we are on site 24/7.

Love the pool facilities, quiet. Little bit of a cruise ship feeling with the bar and restuarant near the pool. Rooms were not well maintained. The main light wasn’t working, soaps and shampoos not filled or not working. Absolutely no room service, not even fresh towels. Guess I shouldn’t complain considering the price.

The property is very outdated and needs some tlc. There are permanents living in the resort which made it feel untidy. We couldn’t keep our door open as the people beside us were smoking in their outdoor area. The only thing it has going for it is the stunning sunset over the water and mountains. Our kids loved the pool.

My family and i stay at dolphin heads quiet often as we find it a very beautiful place, the staff are amazing, food is great everytime, the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. It was just the room we stayed in this last visit wasn't what we were expecting. It smelt very bad of mould then in the door frame my 1 and a half year old was running his fingers in mould. The room smelt very bad it was very unpleasant. There was dust all over the walls. The cutlery still had dry old food on the forks. When we got out of the shower our feet were dirty from floor's. Its definitely not a room for a family with little one's. We will be back it was very unfortunate with the level of cleaning that needs to be done in the room i felt let down cause every stay has always been amazing.

You did not request two beds and were given a beautiful ocean view room which has received many compliments.. Nor did you complain whilst you were at the Resort. You understood that we were fully booked and could not move you. And god for bid I made a joke with you and your girlfriend. How was I to know that you did not share a bed. Fortunately this was the case as we can see now that nothing would have satisfied you. The Resort is going through a refurbishment but it appears this was not suitable.We suggest that you do your research better and not penalise us because this was not to your 6 star standard!

Just stayed overnight but the bed was beautifully comfortable and the surroundings beautiful and picturesque. Lovely ocean breeze. Had some plates and cutlery and a cooking hob if we wanted to cook but there was also a restaurant attached and a bar. Would love to come back!

This resort hasn’t had anything spent on it for the last 20 years. The room was decaying and it was evident that the staff are underpaid and uninterested or unable to maintain an expected standard. Million dollar location, backpacker quality.

View was spectacular and couldn’t fault. Although our room was quiet dusty/dirty we couldn’t use aircon as it was quiet dusty and blocked from dust. There was hair in shower from previews guest and the bunk beds squeaked so much the kids had to be moved to the floor on the mattress. Other then that it was a nice stay. Great staff

We had a great time staying at Dolphin Heads and largely the staff were lovely and friendly until the final morning of our stay when we attempted to get breakfast as it was Mother’s Day they were fully booked so we asked if we could get breakfast to take back to our rooms and we’re also told no and when asked what our breakfast option was as resort guests was told ‘go to McDonalds’ this was by the Manager of the restaurant. We were staying at the resort for a wedding and no one had a car having come from interstate and staying at the resort so we didn’t need one. On discussing with the resort manager she was so lovely and arranged a table for us with the restaurant. The rest of our time had been so great this was just unfortunate that the restaurant manager and the male staff member managing the bookings had limited people skills or problem solving skills.

Paid for room. Checked in. We didn’t have any food or water with us and when my 20 week pregnant wife went to the bar to grab a drink of water she was turned away very abruptly and very rudely because she didn’t have her vaccination status. So we packed up and left the premises. We’ve been staying at dolphin head for years and will never ever return because of this one incidence not will I recommend this venue from now on.

First time I used a latch on the door! 2 Positives: comfy bed. Great outlook/view. Rest: dingy corridors, could hear everything around you, just old and outdated. Reception closed at 4pm (although public holiday). No nightlife, nothing to walk to, no restaurants close by, no pubs. Could be an absolute gem, but needs a lot of work.
