Sativa cottages has that old Bali style appearance. It was clean ,comfortable and central to restaurants and shopping. Staff were very friendly and helpful. the cottages need some maintenance to rooms and pool area but only minor, not a real issue for us. Overall we had a great stay and enjoyed the experience.

Solo female traveller. Had a lovely stay here. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. The rooms are enormous and it is super quiet. They are stand alone (one above another) with a staircase in between so you don't hear anyone. The bed is very comfortable and the water is hot and good pressure. No safe in room but room safety box at front reception desk with key. Only Indonesian plugs in room so take a converter. Breakfast was basic but nice. Egg station and pancakes. Down a side street so you have to walk around to get to the beach road but not too far. Bicycle hire onsite (very cheap) so I just did that and rode everywhere! Pool is very nice but it can get a little crowded and if you want peace and quiet probably not the place. I just rode my bike to the beach and hired a lounge for the day and sat there! Money changer and supermarket right next door & plenty of lovely restaurants and bars close by. Overall a lovely place and I would stay again.

Great secluded property directly behind the busy main street. It was quiet, cozy, and beautiful with the pool running through it. Some of the furnishings seems a bit dated. Not very many charging points and only the local plugs, but it didnt bother me that much. Sitting at the balcony looking at the pool was serene. Would definitely stay again.

This was the 3rd time we have stayed at the property and we have seen a decline in standards. Possibly due to a lack of cashflow during Covid has hit hard, roofs leaking and patched up with tarpaulins, we had to move rooms as ours had water running down the inside walls during a heavy shower. Pool bar not open as they cannot afford the liquor license, they are probably doing their best, but the place does need money spending on it and Soon !

Thank you for the advice . we have repaired the leaky roof by replacing a new one, the tarpaulin replacement was due to the hotel being busy and the rainy season could not be renovated. bar licensing is still in progress. Third time we have stayed at this hotel so obviously it suits are needs. Probably a result of Covid and lack of cashflow has resulted in poor maintenance and cleanliness standards been kept up . Hopefully things will begin to improve during 2023, will be back in March so we shall see

We will be back again! Great, friendly staff. Rooms were nice. Pool is excellent, but I wish the swim bar was operational. Only beer available which sucked because we do love a voddie. Heaps of great food choices around and a very short walk to the awesome Sanur boardwalk/promenade thing.

Great place, took some friends from the YK for their first trip to Bali so we wanted an hotel that reflected the original Bali feel. The Sativa Sanur Cottages had the perfect mix of old style traditional but yet up to date bathrooms and Air con etc. very peaceful and relaxed setting. No kids and plenty of sunbeds available anytime of the day. Supermarket at the top of the driveway, heaps of good warungs, restaurants and bars

Sativa Sanur stay - 22 - 29 December 2019.
My wife, our son, and myself traveled to Bali on Sunday, 22 December 2019. On arrival at the airport, I found that there were no arrangement made for our collection at the airport, as per my request. "Could you please include airport shuttle service. We will be arriving at Denpasar Airport @ 16:35 on 22 Dec 19 onboard Garuda Flight GA447, and depart again on 29 Dec 19 @ 13:00 on Garuda Flight GA446" I then called the hotel, and they told me that no arrangement was made with them, so I arranged for a taxi to the hotel by myself. (Lesson learnt - call the hotel beforehand to confirm!). The stay at the hotel was very pleasant, good location, friendly staff, nice swimming pool. Some complaints though with regards to the facilities, not show stoppers though. 1. Wi-Fi was so bad that we used our own WiFi Router the entire week! 2. No Coffee/tea maker in room!. "Food & Drink - Refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, room service, and free bottled water".We went and bought a small portable gas stove and a pot, to boil water in to make coffee. 3. No bottled water in room, only a Stainless Steel water jug with water.

For a resort that opened in 1990, it still holds up. As per other reviews, the hotel could use some work but they do not oversell themselves or amenities. We booked last minute and were happy with the size of the room and the pool. Some variety to the breakfast options would be nice. The location is perfect as it’s a 5 minute walk to the beach, restaurants and there’s a supermarket next door. Recommend for those looking for a no fuss hotel in Sanur as the staff were friendly and helpful.

TERRIBLE
Booked for 2 adults, 2 Children. Arrived at midnight, there was only one bed for the 4 of us. Staff understood very very little english. There was no apologies given in the morning to us. No staff ever spoke to us. Bathrooms very very old and in poor condition. No atmosphere around the hotel. Only good thing was the area, there is a supermarket next door and the pool is nice and big and cold. We left something there and have sent 4 emails, with no response from them.

The location was good. Felt safe and secluded yet good access to shops and beach. The staff were friendly. The set up of the property was good with access to the pool only steps away for my 11yrs old. The property is run down and could do with a make over or really step up the maintainence, especially in the rooms.

Oasis
This oasis in Sanur was very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great. Lots of restaurants in the area and close to the beach. Loved the market next door.

Quiet and great staff
Perfect location, wifi was inconsistant, TV did not have satelite channels as advertised. Comfy bed, great pool and service was excellent. We only had one meal at the restaurant and were disappointed with the food, breakfast was cold unless you had the omelette.

Great place to stay near the beach in Sanur!
Great place to stay in Sanur! Our kids absolutely loved the pool & the staff :) The layout of the resort around the pool is excellent & the price of the rooms & food is great. And easy 5 minute walk to the beach & a convenient grocery shop close by. Easy walking distance to heaps of great restaurants too!

Convenient and clean hotel
the deluxe room we stayed in was comfortable with a great view over the pool.My main criticism is the cable tv is extremely limited and not up to the offering of cheaper hotels in the area.

Pleasant hotel, central to beach and restaurants.
My husband and I spent 9 nights at the Sativa Sanur Cottages. We had an upstairs room with a large balcony overlooking the pool. The pool area and surrounding gardens were beautiful, very much in keeping with the Balinese vibe. The room was large and airy, and the bed comfortable. The shower was inside the largest bath I have ever seen! ( not so good for elderly people getting in and out), but the level of cleanliness was lacking with mould in the tile grouting. The breakfast selection was limited but ok. We found the staff to be very pleasant and willing to help. We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday and would stay here again.

Delightful Stay!
The Hotel was set charmingly around a lovely tropical pool courtyard. The staff were friendly and the room was very clean and comfortable with a gorgeous balcony & huge bath! I really enjoyed the complimentary film service as well & if every there was a little problem, the staff came immediately to the room to sort it out. I was bowled over though, when I became unwell and the staff were so sweet and just could not do enough to help and were constantly wishing me better, bless them! I would recommend this hotel.

Average hotel in a nice, quiet part of Sanur
Small hotel with a lot of traditional features and nice pool. Photos on website are a bit dated. Hotel does need some touch ups. Was excited about having cocktails by the pool and was hugely disappointed not only because the "sunken pool bar" was never open but the fact that the hotel didn't have an alcohol licence. Only served Bintang in the bar and restaraunt as no license needed. Breakfast buffet was tasty but the staff were not very forthcoming with tea and coffee. Rooms were cleaned to an average standard. We had a dead cockroach in our bathroom for a few days. No tea and coffee facilities in the room as stated on website. No hairdryer but got one from reception. Bed was very hard (my hubby loved) and only 2 English tv channels (action movies and sport). Most of the staff were friendly and the lady in the spa was lovely. Hotel is approx 10min walk to the beach. Wifi was very hit and miss (couldn't get wifi for 2 days). Would not return to this hotel.

The good the bad and the ugly
Good - room size, great bed, comfortable, good location, quiet Bad - staff didn't seem to care about the guests. Food was pretty bad, especially the no frills breakfast which was cooked in a slap dash manner by a surly looking girl and slapped on a plate. Buffet brekky ran out by 9am and not replenished. Rotting fruit displays capped it off. Ugly - swim up bar area was filthy. Grimy cabinets with a few old dirty glasses and used plates and cutlery in the sink. The seats were rough and broken so you couldn't really sit on them. Not that you'd bother as there was nobody to get you a drink. There is a general lack of service and in the morning there was still left over drink containers and rubbish around the pool area, which s right where you sit for breakfast.

Very quiet & relaxing place to stay. For older Balinese economical style hotel I would highly recommend staying here if you want a peaceful Holiday with short walks to Shops, Beach and restaurants

We were under the assumption that this hotel was on the beach , but you need to walk about 5 minutes along a busy street to reach the swimming beach and Boardwalk. Staff was lovely, pool is very nice with pool bar. Room was large, clean and has TV and showe/tub and mini fridge which we appreciate. I would definitely stay there again. Nice breakfast and quiet.

I'm not sure if this hotel likes Australians, the Staff were the most miserable looking bunch I have ever come across in all of my Trips to Bali, the afternoon shift need a lesson in customer service, there were two of them that were downright rude, there was an exception and that was Norman the lovely guy that looks after the pool,the rooms are spacious which is good, breakfast could do with a little bit more of an effort, had to ask a few times if any more food or juices were coming out and that was at 8.30am, The Staff at the front counter were hit and miss ,depending on who was on,my husband asked for a massage and was told that she was going home in twenty minutes and come back another day, came back from the shops one afternoon to the stench of them doing the mosquito poisoning no warning was given to anyone, every other hotel we have stayed at have always given a written note, as for returning to the hotel again No Way, has also put me off going back to Bali,

Delightful, private complex
We stayed here 18 years ago and were equally impressed this time. Situated back off the road, the cottages are arranged around a large, curved, central swimming pool and bar. Quiet, self-contained complex with well tended gardens.

Common areas such as pool and restaurant were very pleasant with tropical feel. Room was basic but adequate and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. No wifi available in the room. Location was good. Right in the middle of shops and restaurants etc. Breakfast pretty basic. Eggs cooked to order but not much to go with them.

Excellent hotel
It is our 3rd time staying at Sativa. The rooms have been renovated from my first stay 4 years ago. The only negative for my partner was the TV was an old one with not a very good Reception. The pool area and surrounding gardens are maintained to a very high standard. The buffet breakfast was sufficient and enjoyable. The location of the hotel is excellent, close to beach, restaurants and shopping. Sativa Cottages is a small quiet hotel with excellent friendly staff, will definitely be staying again on our next visit to Bali.
