Many stores and restaurants stay open year-round! We have parades for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Burning Beetle in Custer. Custer has many fall/winter events. We are about 1 hour from skiing at Terry Peak. WHAT RESTAURANTS ARE OPEN YEAR-ROUND? The Custer Wolf, Custer Beacon, Skogen are a few of the restaurants that are open year-round. IS THERE A PLACE TO RENT BIKES AND UTVS? YES! Black Hills Power Bikes is a great way to see the Mickelson Trail. For UTV/ATV rental we recommend Hill City Adventures. HOW MANY HIKING/BIKING TRAILS ARE THERE? We have over 70 miles of hiking in and around the park. Other than the Mickelson Trail (500 feet from the house) we put our favorite hikes (including Black Elk Peak) in the guidebook. ARE THERE STORES NEARBY TO BUY FOOD? We have Lynn’s Grocery across the street and Dollar General nearby. Check out our other properties in Custer and Hill City! Look up “Black Hills Family Vacations” in both towns. Rushmore Trip We LOVED it here! There were plenty of spots for our big family to sleep, two living rooms to stretch out, two bathrooms and a big dining area. We loved the old charm vibes! Every amenity was well thought out and we did not go without! The hot tub and swing on the back porch was lovely. There’s indoor and outdoor games, check in and out process was a breeze. It was nice to come and just relax and not have to worry about anything. Hosts were lovely to work with. Great place to stay! The grocery store is right across the street, there’s a cute little downtown area to walk around and shop. Mt. Rushmore is less than 30 min away. We loved adventuring into Keystone, Hill City & Rapid City. Loved all the State Parks! We didn’t plan a long enough trip to fit in all the fun stuff to do!
