Aug 19, 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Custer National Park We spent 5 nights in the apt. The pros: LOCATION. We were within 4 blocks to the restaurants we wanted to visit. There is a small grocery across the street. The apt is well appointed with everything we needed. CONS; It is on the main street and morning until about 8pm it is quite noisy. The bed is quite hard and the roku system was difficult to maneauver. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons. ##### Lorrie B. Stayed 5 nights in Aug 2024 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Deanna N. Noise from highway during daylight working hours as we had read about prior to going. Location excellent. Very close, in downtown area. All within walking distance. Clean and everything we needed right there which is much appreciated. Mattress on bed could be upgraded. A bit hard. Great communication with owner. Code to enter the door only worked once. We used the key in the lock box after that. Thank you for the great place to stay! ##### Deanna N. Stayed 2 nights in Sep 2024 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Sam S. The house has everything you need and super close to cute shops ans ample places to eat. Our host, Sarah was AWESOME! She had a few things she wanted to tell us about and we continued our conversation even after checkout. The only downfall is the parking, it’s right on main street and we were there while the Sturgis rally was around so it was busy. Other than that it was great! The Johnny Cash items are SO cool. Such a fun places. ##### Sam S. Stayed 1 night in Aug 2023 This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Sam S. We came to Custer over the 4th of July. Sarah had great communication in the beginning. We booked this property because it stated no pets! I received my pre-check in questionnaire and it asked how many pets are we bringing. I sent a message to Sarah asking about the no pet policy and she said that was correct. I told her we have very bad allergies to pets and needed confirmation that no pets have been in this vrbo. She confirmed. We arrive around 1:00 am and as soon as I opened the door it was like hitting a brick wall. Instant headache and congestion. I can smell pets a mile away and there were definitely pets in this room. I emailed and asked about it and Sarah said no pets have been there. As we are looking through the information on the coffee table, it states pets are allowed if you stay at least 3 days. I also asked about that and she said that is paperwork from the old owners and they forgot to remove it. Now as I’m reading the reviews, pets have been allowed and she was the owner or manager a year ago! Now 3 days later I am still suffering from severe pet allergies. I would never have booked had I known this. The smell was horrible. The carpet in the the living room area was filthy and hasn’t been cleaned in awhile. The bed is hard as a rock. It’s a cute property but beware if you have pet allergies! She said she would have it deep cleaned so I hope that happens! We never did receive check out instructions so follow the instructions listed on the refrigerator. ##### Brenda S. Stayed 3 nights in Jul 2025 ### 4/10 Poor #### Paige S. May 28, 2023 Liked: Location Disliked: Cleanliness, communication #### Yikes The location was the best part about this place. The parking directions she sent me in a pic vs the parking directions she told me contradicted themselves. My low score is how Sarah treats you. We both agreed that I could have a late check out, so my friend and I could go hiking the next morning and I could leave my dog during that time. I was appreciative and thanked her. That night, a very normal thunderstorm for SD occurred and the ceiling started leaking through the light fixture. Water sat in it overnight and the active leak stopped. Sarah started to get an attitude with me. She mentioned sending a maintenance guy to fix the light that morning with my dog inside the vrbo while we were gone. When I told her I was uncomfortable with that, as you never know what happens with dogs and strangers. She asked me if I brought a crate for my dog while on the trip, and told me the guy would be coming 2 hours before my scheduled (agreed upon) time of check out. I asked her if he could come after we checked out, the leak had already sat all night and wasn’t active any more. I know it sucks but I don’t live anywhere near SD and didn’t want to rush or have to stare at a guy fix a light when I can do that at home. She didn’t seem empathetic for us at all, and told me I was lucky she was letting me check out late at all and that I should be happy she didn’t charge me for the extra hours. This vrbo would be the best if the owners were more understanding, compassionate, and respectful. ##### Paige S. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Johnny Cash "Rambler" on Main. The accommodations were great - it had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The location was great - you're right on the main street so we could walk everywhere. We were also minutes away from Custer State Park. We would definitely book there again! ##### Douglas S. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Keith B.
