In a slightly sketchy part of town, so I don't know that I would feel totally comfortable taking small children here at night, but maybe that is just my paranoia and first-world snobbishness. I had trouble finding the place at first, and a little boy, maybe 5 or 6, ended up walking me there and explaining the doorbell outside the gate to me-- kind of illustrative of the friendliness and openness of the people in this wonderful town. The staff, especially the young man who runs the front desk, would bend over backwards to help you- super nice and just downright good people! You can tell they take real pride in keeping this place in great condition for their guests. Overall, it was almost certainly the best hostel I stayed at in Peru, and I would basically unconditionally recommend it to anyone, with the *slight* caveat of the location, which could even be considered an asset since you are away from the louder touristy places and better able to get a peaceful night's sleep (I did!).
