Casa Cavassa is central to everything a tourist wants to see. Close to markets, shops, churches, cathedrals, historic centers, and ancient ruins! Such a great location, well maintained accommodation, and great staff who worked through my lack of local knowledge and language with ease. One of the unexpected highlights of our stay was the presence of two adorable cats who live at the hotel. The location is convenient. However, if you're a light sleeper it could be an issue due to the proximity to the street and the constant honking. Also, one hour prior to checkout the owner of the building knocked on my door and asked to see the balcony. Then 10 other people joined. This was beyond rude and disrespectful and an unnecessary invasion of privacy. Especially when they only had to wait 60 minutes until I checked out. All the rooms open into a covered courtyard. It is in the heart of Cuzco's historic district conveniently close to shopping, restaurants, and historic sites. There is no parking, but if you have ever been to Cusco, you realize that driving in Cusco is better left to professional taxi drivers who are relatively inexpensive and understand how to drive on Cuzco's narrow crowed streets. The hotel was clean, the staff was responsive and accommodating. Staff brought a large jug of water to “assist” but honestly even with lower expectations we at least expected the minimum necessities - like running water.
