There are many nature activities to enjoy from Boating, Fishing, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Biking, Hiking, and swimming with the Manatees. The Beautiful 3 Sisters Springs where the Manatees are is just 5 minutes away. The Crystal River Preserve State Park with walking and biking trails is just a half mile down the road. Very close to local restaurants and the quaint shops of downtown Crystal River. Relax the day away at the beach of Hunter Springs Park just 5 minutes away. The Fort Island Gulf Beach is just under a 15 minute drive. Beautiful and peaceful Crystal River offers an abundance of nature activities for the whole family. Crystal River is the only place where it is legal to swim with the manatees, and one of the few remaining areas to scallop in Florida during the summer. With the many spring fed rivers and miles of mangroves, Crystal River has the BEST Scalloping grounds in the U.S. Some of the best Scalloping action is usually in 4 to 6 feet of shallow water around Gomez Rocks at Latitude 2829.8 and Longitude 8243.7 The town of Dunnellon, FL is only a 20 minute drive away where you can go tubing down the Rainbow River and visit the Rainbow Springs State Park. Dunnellon has several local Restaurants on the Rainbow River and the Withlacoochee River. The Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park is just 20 minutes away. Quiet neighborhood with nearby birding trail and archeological park and museum. The house was very clean and "homey." We felt right at home in the living room area with comfortable furniture and throw blankets. All the bedding and linens were clean and soft. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and small appliances. The hosts even left complimentary snacks and beverages for us to enjoy when we arrived! We usually stay in hotels for our stays but this was our first big family vacation and renting a whole house was superior to hotel stays. Because I had never VRBO’d before, I was a little nervous on how the accommodations would fair, the location, etc. Because of Covid, we chose to drive down from NJ with four young children. Surprisingly we arrived early and Mr. Frank was excellent at accommodating our unplanned early arrival. Curb Appeal- this is a very well kept home with beautiful plantings and fun little additions like shells, a fake alligator and a rubber snake in the garden. This brought a smile to our faces and the kids loved it! Entry was seamless, and the home was already cool and inviting. Refreshments were available in the fridge and everything was set for our week long stay. In the morning, we were very happy to use the Keurig and coffee available. We had brought some of our own pods but hadn’t really needed to. The beds are comfortable and the linens were all well kept and matched perfectly for the weather. The master with en suite was excellent. Spacious and comfortable with two large closets, side tables and a double dresser. The second bedroom has two twin beds and a large closet with small wicker dresser and night table. The study has a queen size pull out bed which was very comfortable for the kids. It has a desk with all office supplies one might need. One of my favorite features was the two binders he prepared for maximizing your visit to the area. We found it very helpful to have food options, entertainment, and trips all put together for us in two handy binders. The second bathroom has a bathtub while the master has a shower. Both bathrooms are very clean, updated and comfortable. The living room has a couch and two very relaxing recliners and a great television. The kitchen was well stocked. And the fridge had many staples. Basic spices and a few sauces are available. There aren’t any baking dishes besides a pizza pan so if you plan on baking, bring your own pans and measuring utensils. I felt like we were ten minutes from everything. Swimming, fishing, parks, food, entertainment, manatees, scallops, you name it! There is a garage with washer and dryer and two bicycles. A cooler, some puzzles and various day items are available. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and have already booked to come back over Christmas. Highly recommend staying! ##### Alicia C. Family of 4: parents with two kids (12 and 14). The younger elected to sleep in the “study” on the couch which allowed each kid to have privacy of their own room. The house was actually bigger than it seemed from the pictures. Tons of space in all rooms. And loved having room in the garage to store our 4 bikes and rooftop cargo carrier. Kitchen was well stocked with condiments and seasonings. The mints and complimentary beverages were a nice touch.
