"Very clean and well presented. Excellent facilities. Whilst I give the Rural Retreat 5*'s I'd give myself less as I missed that the room was not ensuite and that breakfast (which was very good btw) was not included. I will look more closely next time. Whilst St Finans is close to interesting places, there is not much in the village itself. Wifi was not great, but that is a problem for the area rather than for any specific property."
"Looking for somewhere to stay while attending the Drovers Tryst Walking Festival, this was in a good central location, easy to walk into the town centre, with a supermarket for supplies just round the corner.
Excellent value for money. I was welcomed and impressed with the room facilities and the little extras such as bottles of water in the fridge and bathrobes.
Very good choice to eat at breakfast, and was offered an earlier breakfast time so I could meet the walk start times.

"Good location, convenient parking, and great breakfast in the morning. The family room was very comfortable for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids, and our kids liked having their own room with a bunkbed. We liked the historical building, and the location within walking distance of the castle, the train station, and restaurants."

"We loved this hotel. The staff were really kind and attentive. The whole hotel was beautifully furnished and relaxing. We had a lovely walk in the grounds with a breathtaking view of Lock Ard. Our Evening meal in the bar was delicious as was breakfast the next morning. If we’re ever in this area again, this will be where we will stay."

"My friend and I stayed here for one night in June. We booked a King Junior Suite to have some extra space. Not sure if we were upgraded but at check in we were given the Bruce Suite. It was quite lovely with large sitting area, that flowed into the bedroom. Also our bathroom was huge, complete with separate shower and bathtub. It's about a 10 minute walk from the train station, but mostly uphill. It's a bit taxing to make that treck with luggage so if you have any physical aligments, I'd recommend getting a taxi. The staff was super friendly. We had complimentary breakfast and it had an adequate selection. The castle is also close by, but again, uphill. I truely loved the stay here and would not hesitate to recommend or stay here again."
