The Serene & Spacious Dome

Main dwelling - 34 ft diameter, rustic wooden floors & 5 1/2 ft round windows over looking great views! Large kitchen, open plan space; king bed in main living area, queen bed in open loft. Retreat-writing, meditation, yoga, dancing, playing, fun! Location-location!! 4 miles to town

Architecturally elegant and unique design situated with beautiful views. This was a big home that has been duplex-ed and is about 1100 square feet. It was designed for privacy, so the entry door for the other home is on the opposite side of the house from where you enter. Very peaceful and quiet - the only house on the street. I call the area 'country suburbia' with houses peppered in the neighborhood about 1/4 mile away. This is a monolithic dome which means a huge balloon was blown up and sprayed with concrete before the balloon was popped. That part of the house is 34 ft diameter with rustic wooden floors & two 5 1/2 ft round windows over looking great views & yard. (The yard is not totally secure for pet safety.) Large kitchen, very roomy open plan space; king bed/queen bed in the loft, a smart TV and selection of DVDs for your entertainment. The picture shows a ladder going to the loft but it is now a stair case. The loft has an artsy 2 1/2 foot 'picket fence' as a wall. There is sight privacy, but due to it being a half wall, there is no sound privacy. Parents note: Please look at the pictures to decide if this room is child-safe for your needs. About 2 % of folks decide it's not right for them.I imagine it should be no problem unless they are climbers when you're not looking! Please ask for details if you're unsure. This is a wonderful space for retreats, writing, meditation, yoga, dancing, playing, fun! The sister dome is about 1000 square feet - and renting both sides is excellent for smallish events/retreats. There have been a few weddings held here. Location-location!! 4 miles to town.

We are a tourist destination for the great hiking (all levels), as well as many spiritual retreat centers, peace, quiet and beauty. We can be a sleepy town with many smatterings of Fun. There are several hot springs 30-40 mins away, as well as the Great Sand Dunes, alligator park and UFO park.

There is no formal check-in. I give you the combination for the door to arrive on your own timing. Check-in 3:30 pm and check-out 10:30am. I am open to meeting all my guests needs/questions. However, unless they come to me - I give them total space, peace and quiet! Checking out is simple. All you do is leave ! If you have any questions or problems - please call or text.

This rental is half of a duplex that has been built for privacy. There is an ascetically lovely wide paneled high wooden fence in the back yard. (The yard is not secure for pets safety.) As well, separate drive ways and entry doors are on opposite sides so that it's most likely you won't even see the other person. We have a lot of folks coming for meditation and designed our home for retreats, writers & romance.

Crestone this is a very remote area without public transportation so you do need a vehicle.

Crestone is one of the most beautiful places to be for hiking and spiritual adventures! There are many hikes with 14,000 ft peaks and for all levels. Also, the peaceful majestic beauty attracts folks from all over the world that come to attend one of the many retreats at the dozen or so spiritual centers. A few miles away are horse riding/stables. 30-45 minutes away are Joyful Journey Hot Springs - famous for it's healing waters. Also there is the most magnificent Valley View Hot Springs - focused outdoors with incredibly beautiful vistas. It is clothing optional. Both offer massages.

Great spot for my pup and I!
So much bigger than I actually thought. Had everything I needed to make tacos! Super cute area. Only on the listing it says check in is at 3pm and check out is 11am but it’s actually check in 3:30pm and check out at 10:30am. No big deal, realized too late so I just went straight to the dunes instead of checking in first. Pup and I had a great time and will be recommending this place to our followers ☺️

Exceeded expectations!
The Serene and Spacious Dome lives up to its name! Spent just a night here with my pup, and would've loved to extend my stay! The location is gorgeous, and the windows and outdoor area are situated so as to make the most of the stunning scenery. The inside area is spacious and comfortable, and everything was clean and well-appointed - one of the reviews mentioned that the kitchen was somewhat sparsely equipped, so I brought a bunch of cooking supplies which I ended up not needing b/c most of it was already there (the pots are not large so if you're cooking for a larger group they wouldn't be big enough, but otherwise it had everything that most people would need). My only issue was getting the door to lock, but the owner got back to me right away and was easily able to instruct me on what to do. As another reviewer mentioned, Great Sand Dunes is about a one hour drive away, but in the end I thought this was an advantage b/c the Crestone area where the dome is located is, in my opinion, a nicer place to stay overnight. I would recommend this place to anyone, and hope to return myself at some point as well!

Secluded and quirky
Amazing place. Lots of room. The bed was quite comfortable. Good water pressure and great WI-FI. The towels were thick and absorbent. As others have said, the way sound travels was constantly amusing to us. If I had any criticisms at all, it would be that the kitchen was okay, not a lot of pots, pans, dishes, or glasses. We were only there for the weekend, so that was not a big deal. A longer stay it would have bothered me. The host thought of everything else though. Nice coffee and coffee makers, (yes, there were a couple kinds) shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc… There was also a toaster if you like to fix breakfast. We plan on coming back, as one of the reasons for our trip was star gazing and the skies were overcast and rainy the whole time we were there. We will definitely stay here again.

Spacious and cozy at the same time
The dome has a loft with a full size bed and a king sized bed in the living area. For my girlfriend and I, it was perfect. However there's not much privacy. The area is very scenic with lots of great hiking. Epic views of the mountains from the dome windows.

Adorable dome
Lovely and unique home. Quiet surrounds. Gorgeous sunset! We were only there for 1 night but enjoyed our stay. It did get hot without central air, but there were several fans that you could position more directly at you to get cooled off while you sleep etc.

Quirky dome house semi close to the Great Sane Dunes
This quirky dome was pretty spacious. The lofted bed was a bit unsafe for toddlers. The view was incredible from the circle windows, making for fantastic pictures. The property manager was very responsive and helpful. Unfortunately we had hoped it was closer to the Great Sand Dunes but it was over an hour drive which would be nice to note on the description. Overall good experience.
