About this property
The Sunflower-Secluded luxury,hot tub,minutes to town
Summary:
Gorgeous home on 35 acres just 2 miles to town. Hot tub, game room!
The Space:
Nestled on 55 acres of alpine wilderness just 2 miles from downtown Crested Butte, this newly renovated luxury home sits on the flank of Red Lady peak, surrounded by mountain meadows, old-growth pine and aspen forests, and sweeping views of the Elk Mountains. A footbridge leads to a private alpine meadow perfect for flower gazing, wildlife viewing, hiking, snowshoeing, or sledding, with further access to Red Lady's flanks and the famed views of Kebler Pass. The home sleeps up to 10 (adults, kids, and infants included) and features vaulted ceilings, an open floor plan, a heated two-car garage, a hot tub, a game room, 3 fireplaces, and Starlink satellite Wi-Fi capable of handling dozens of devices.
One flight up from the entrance, the main floor centers on an open living, dining, and kitchen area: a spacious, newly remodeled kitchen with an island seating 8-10 and a casual table, a cozy fireplace seating area with deck access, a formal dining table for 10, and a vaulted living room with a gas fireplace and seating for 10. French doors lead to a second-story deck with a gas grill, table and chairs, and private views of Whetstone and Axtell peaks, with total seclusion from other homes. The master suite is also on this floor, with a king bed, work desk, walk-in closet, and a remodeled ensuite bath with double vanities, a soaking tub, and an oversized shower. A cozy enclosed loft above the kitchen holds a third bedroom with 3 twin beds, a smart TV, and armoire, near a powder room.
Downstairs, the rec room offers a large smart TV, sound system, electronic dart board, wet bar, ping pong, foosball, a PacMan arcade table, board games, a gas fireplace, an inviting couch, oversized recliners, two daybeds, and a full bathroom. The ground/entrance level holds two additional guest rooms—one queen, one king with smart TV—sharing a bathroom, each with a closet and drawers.
The climate-controlled two-car garage includes cubbies for boots and helmets, hooks for outerwear, ski pole bins, a ski rack, a heated drying rack, ample charging outlets, and an extra full-size fridge, plus access to the hot tub. The hot tub sits sheltered under the back porch, seats 7, and has massaging jets with an easy-to-operate lid. Additional parking is available in the driveway and near the barn (the barn itself is locked and not accessible to guests), along with an adjustable basketball hoop and outdoor gear like frisbees, sleds, and balls.
Just 2 miles (5 minutes by car or bike) from downtown Crested Butte, a National Historic District known as "the last great American ski town" in winter and "the wildflower capital of Colorado" in summer, guests have easy access to Crested Butte Mountain Resort (on the Epic Pass), guided backcountry adventures, golf at the Crested Butte Country Club, white water rafting, fly fishing on the Slate, East, Taylor, and Gunnison rivers, horseback riding, hiking, biking, camping, rock climbing, paragliding, and year-round community events at the CB Center for the Arts and historic Majestic Theatre.
Please note: the road to the property, though stunning, is winding with 600 feet of elevation gain from town; a 4WD/AWD vehicle is required in winter, though the road and driveway are professionally maintained and plowed. No smoking is permitted anywhere on the property, and no trailers are allowed. Renters must be 30 or older, though children of all ages are welcome with a parent or guardian; total occupancy (including children and infants) is capped at 10 to protect the well and septic system.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sunflower. The house was perfect for our family. Great layout. Updated / clean. Picturesque views surrounded by nature. Quick drive into town and nearby beautiful walking trails. Would absolutely stay here again.
This was great secluded house. It was well maintained and had plenty of space. I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to be in a nice quiet area.
Lovely house and gorgeous wooded setting. House is very spacious. The living areas and kitchen are modern and fantastic. Great master suite. Minutes from downtown Crested Butte and near oodles of hiking areas.
Everything was wonderful! Amenities were exceptional! Beds were wonderful. Our group of 12 had ample room. The only thing I would recommend is replacing the dryer and adding a tv in the upstairs areas. But it forced us to enjoy family time!! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!! Highly recommend!!
This beautiful home and property was perfect for our family. The home had plenty of amenities for are family of 12 to enjoy. Lots of games played, trails made to sled down and pictures made surrounded by snow covered terrain. Without 4-wheel drive it would be impossible to enjoy this location. Wonderful getaway!
The Sunflower was absolutely beautiful! The house is surrounded by giant pine trees and has big windows so you can enjoy the view. It is a quick trip to town and well worth the 2-mile drive. The house was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We will definitely be coming back! Prperty managers were responsive and easy to communicate with.
This was the perfect property for a group. We had 4 couples, a teen, and 2 kids and this house could have accommodated even more. The kitchen was fully stocked with every pan, dish, and appliance we needed, and the big tables made meals inclusive. Big windows showed off the view, and the house itself was cozy and beautifully decorated. 4 wheel drive is a MUST in the winter, they aren't kidding. Would absolutely stay here again!
Honestly the pictures don’t do it justice. It’s gorgeous. The little things like body wash, shampoo, a few condiments in the fridge really helped as a guest or two always forgets something. Check out process was easy. Be a decent human and treat the place right and you’ll have no issues!
We had a spectacular week at The Sunflower! We loved the two separate sitting and eating areas for our large group. The weather was beautiful and were able to enjoy the deck every afternoon after hiking and enjoying the town.
We were pleased how convenient the property was from town and especially enjoyed nightly walks on the Woods Walk trail.
The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking large meals-Felt like we were cooking at home since all the kitchen tools we usually use were provided. Appliances new and easy to use!
The property is gorgeous with lots of wild flowers. Even saw a black bear from a distance one morning. A female moose and her calves were seen walking near the driveway twice!
This is one of the best vacation houses I have had the pleasure of staying in. It was clean, and well stocked. We appreciated the fact that there are tons of towels instead of the bare bones minimum normally found in a rental house, as well as plenty of paper products, and trash bags. I must agree with one of the reviews that said "the pictures don't do this house justice". The ONLY negative thing I can say about this house is also a positive. The secluded location of the house and size of the property ( my adult kids and exchange students roamed in the snow all day without covering the same area twice) is fantastic for the adventurous, however, the location of the house is such that it is absolutely necessary to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle in the winter. In the 15 or so years we have been attending rental houses, I believe this will be our first repeat house. Property management and housekeeping were top notch. Thanks, for a great stay, the Locke family and guests
We had the most amazing time! It was the perfect place for a very small family wedding. Truly could not have been more perfect. Thank you for sharing this great home with us!
Beautiful cabin/luxury-home above Crested Butte, close enough to not be an issue to drive into town but also away from everything and very quite on the hill. We had a great stay and would definitely book this place again. Thank you.
This was an amazing house that worked out well for all age ranges! The kids loved the downstairs room, while my parents appreciate the main floor bedroom. The spacious kitchen was fabulous as we all were hanging out there! The views from the house were breathtaking!
The pictures don’t do this place justice! It was huge with several different living spaces. The kitchen was very well appointed with everything you could need. We were excited to see a bear right out the window on our last night there.
We didn’t realize there would be a pack n play and baby chair at the property, otherwise we wouldn’t have brought ours.
