What's nearby: This home sits across the road from the Naval Outlying Field Coupeville (NOLF Coupeville), where Navy jets perform their night flight training (which results in both a neat scene to observe and loud noises that can occur late at night). Here in the middle of the island, you'll find it easy to go both north and south, and there's a bike trail nearby that makes for easy excursions. The cottage is four miles southeast of downtown Coupeville's shops and restaurants, six miles east of the incredible Bluff Trail at Ebey's Landing, eight miles north of walking trails and Whidbey Pies Cafe at Greenbank Farm, and 15 miles south of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. The house had ear plugs available and looks right onto the runway they practice touchdowns at. The mainfloor makes for a great space if more people are present. Great views of the stars at night. There is also an apple tree in the yard and fields nearby so the deer are always visiting. House is near the Port Townsend ferry and the beach. Not far to Coupeville, Oak Harbor or the Mukilteo ferry. Very convenient. We visit Whidbey often and would stay here again. ##### Krystina B. We loved everything about it so much during our first visit that we returned the following year. However, this time, we encountered a significant issue. During the first night of our stay, a loud thumping noise emerged from the wall behind the bed in the only downstairs bedroom, waking us up. It continued from 2 AM to 4 AM, keeping the occupants of the room awake. We contacted the property manager through the app the next morning, but they simply replied with an "Okay then," and that was the extent of their response. On the second night, the noise returned, again from 2 AM to 4 AM, and it was even louder than the first. After sending video and audio proof of the noises, customer service informed us that they would reach out to the local team. The following day, the local team indicated they would send someone out on Monday morning, but this was unhelpful as we were checking out on Sunday. It felt like no one truly cared about our concerns.The third night brought even more noise; it was so loud that it woke everyone in the upstairs bedrooms as well, again from 2 AM to 4 AM. I reached out a third time, hoping for a resolution, but no one responded. Late check out was a mess. Great place that had all the amenities needed for our weekend there. Only negative is got email on day of our stay to extend to late check out, which we did, only to have three cleaners show up at 1130 when we had late check out of 2pm. Seemed like a lot of confusion at that point. I called Vacasa and confirmed we had paid to have late check out, and James confirmed and then another person showed up at the house. Loved everything about this property! The only thing that was not to my liking was the lack of cleaning given the high cleaning fees. A couple of examples: there was a half drank coffee pot in the coffee machine, black dog hair (not judging dogs at all, we had a white haired dog with us) in the bed sheets and in the bathroom floor, the grass hadn't been cut etc. The kitchen was immaculate though and had everything we needed. I wouldn't have mentioned any of these things, or rated 4 out of 5, had the fees not been so much higher than what we are used to, especially in dog friendly houses. So much rustic charm! Full sized fridge and stove to make meals. All needed cookware available. Our children (8 and 11) loved the huge, wide open yard to play in with our pup. Was super cute that they provided paw wipes and doggie bags! Netflix and old school Nintendo entertained us all at night. Saw that there were plenty of toys for those with younger children. We loved the sounds of owls at night and the deer that visited us in the field. No sounds from aircraft the weekend we stayed. Very peaceful stay. Make sure to bring your own coffee! ##### Anna L. Really great stay! Lovely home with one of the best kitchens I’ve had at a rental! The large yard was SO fun for my city pup to run around! No planes during our stay, so overall it was very peaceful. There were quite a few flies - dead and alive, but Vacasa and the owner wer quick to respond (no chemicals - so no concerns for animals; not sure why there were so many, but very apologetic). Loved the huge kitchen and authentic feel. It's only a few miles to the beach, and 5-10min to coupeville. View of Baker is pretty too. The space is really comfortable and accessible. There was not enough toilet paper or paper towels for the 2 nights we stayed, so plan on bringing extra septic safe TP. Also lots of apples on the ground attracted a ton of yellow jackets which were rather problematic. They have a ton of traps up but the apples outweigh all those, so be cautious in the late summer and fall about that when booking. Over all it was great weekend and enjoyable space. ##### Courtney P.
