I have found that many hotels have rooms/floors set aside for pre-paid/online booked rooms. In each case the first room I was given had substandard housekeeping and generally badly needed a "refresh". After complaining to the desk I was shown to a room on another floor which lived up to the reviews (all were four star business hotels). The Hotel Irvine is very convenient and has a good atmosphere IF you get a newer room.
Checking in at almost 1am, it was great that the front desk gentleman was friendly. Dispite being the only one with security on site, he tried as fast as he could to get my family extra sheets for the pull out couch. Security was fast to respond too when we accidently locked bathroom door. We were all exhausted but staff was on their game. Breakfast was as good as it got for a complementary hot plate. Different options and eating out by the pool was nice.
