Immersed in a fascinating and timeless atmosphere, this house is one-of-a-kind, it is surrounded by ancient churches, houses and convents and its position makes it ideal for taking pleasant walks immersed in nature, enjoying spectacular views of the valley and breathing the millenary history of the city. Don't miss the route that leads to the Sanctuary of Santa Margherita and the Girifalco Fortress. We are also just a few minutes walk from the city center where you will find all the attractions that the city has to offer as well as good restaurants and wine bars where you can taste wines and local excellences. The property is spread over three floors for a total of approximately 200 sqm. The windows offer lots of natural light and create a beautiful atmosphere with the central element of the house, a beautiful central staircase in oak and steel surmounted by a large skylight that allows sunlight to filter from the top to the bottom of the house. The Architects House is the result of a project by a well-known American architect who played with the historical elements of the house by fusing them with cutting-edge interior design, making superb use of space and light. The property is made even more exceptional by a garden full of plants and shrubs where there are both a patio dedicated to relaxation and a large stone table where you can eat your dishes in the open air. In the garden you will also find an outdoor area with barbecue and support surfaces. \===== ACCOMMODATION DESCRIPTION ===== The ground floor of The Architects House is dedicated to conviviality: you get into the house through a hallway with wardrobe which leads you to a sitting room with armchairs and stove and then continues into the kitchen area: here we find a dining table and a large modern kitchen and equipped with everything you need to prepare your favorite meals. A beautiful French window allows you to access easily from the kitchen to the outdoor garden. On the first floor we find the first bedroom composed of a double bed and equipped with a private bathroom with a large shower. From the bedroom window, the view of the ancient church of San Niccolò deserves a mention. On the second floor we find the second bedroom, also with a double bed and a private bathroom complete with a large shower. On this floor we also find a living room with sofas, Smart TV and a hallway with an armchair and skylight. From the second floor you can enjoy a particular point of view of the surrounding area and the historic buildings of the neighborhood. May 22, 2025 #### Review for stay from 21 April 2025 to 05 May 2025 We rented this property for two weeks in late April and early May. The house is an amazing combination of historical Cortona architecture with contemporary interior design. We enjoyed lovely private side yard and garden daily. The house is located in the Poggio, one of oldest neighborhoods in Cortona. It faces a small park and is surrounded by the original convents. If you are interested in immersing yourself in the local culture, it is an ideal choice. As others have stated, the walk into the dining and shopping areas of town is about 12-15 minutes, but is very steep. We are active and in our 70s, and managed the walk fine. The meandering narrow streets and open vistas to the valley below are stunning. The locals were very friendly. We loved it there. Special thanks to Alen for his patience and making sure we had everything we needed.
