Coldstream, just minutes away, has a larger supermarket, choice of takeaways, petrol station and of course the Guards Museum!For lovers of outdoor activities, the surrounding countryside provides loads of opportunities for walking and cycling with good hill walks and mountain biking tracks in the area. The Cheviots, Northumberland National Park and Kielder Forest are all lovely places to visit.There is salmon fishing on the River Tweed and for golfers, there are excellent courses at nearby Coldstream (5 minutes away by car) and Kelso (10 minutes) plus there is an off-road driving centre near Duns.The area is rich in history and the walled city of Berwick-upon-Tweed (only 15 minutes away) makes for a great day out. We have often stayed in the area and enjoy it. We came into the area for a Christian weekend conference. It was very convenient for the place it was held. However we would have expected there to be a cafeteria, proper teapot , milk jug and sharp bread knife. We realise we are 2 elderly ladies and that younger people probably do not require these items. Arm chairs were low for our requirements but in goo condition. We did have the dining chairs. We enjoyed the outside area on our first evening in the warm sunshine. ##### Rosemary M. We stayed at Pelhaven cottage for a week in October and enjoyed it very much. Spotlessly clean, very well appointed and really cosy. Particularly enjoyed the log burner a real focal point and the underfloor heating in the bathroom!! Also great communication with Stuart and a lovely welcome pack when we arrived. Although Cornhill is tiny it has a really amazing family run store, their home baking is to die for and I would highly recommend that you support it when you stay. Great Indian restaurant in Coldstream and the Beson Inn was good too. Plenty of places to go so makes a good base we particularly enjoyed Melrose, Kelso and St Abbs.
