Stayed here for 3 nights from 14th November. From the airport get the train to the central station 36DKK per person, which takes 15 min. Turn left outside the station and go to the lights, turn right go to the next lights and turn left. Walk 200m and the hotel is easy to find on the left.
From the hotel the Tivoli is 200m or so and the Radhus on the opposite side of the road to the Tivoli. Walking into the main shopping area and most of the sights and tourist attractions is very easy. The local tourist map ( pick up from the hotel or information centre) is very good for finding your way around.
If you fancy the Carlsberg brewery, there is a free bus from the side of the tourist information centre (Just round the corner from The Alexandra Hotel) which also drops off at the Zoo.
If you do nothing else, go to the Amalienborg Slot and see the changing of the guard, very entertaining. From there to the Little Mermaid and then back to Papiroen and the street food market. Well worth seeing and the food is pretty good too.
For a Danish breakfast visit the Andersen Bakery opposite the railway station next to Limb. The food and the coffee are wonderful. To be fair wherever you eat or drink is good if a little more expensive than England.
"Great Apartment Hotel on outskirts of Copenhagen"
Lovely Apartment Hotel, with all the comforts of home. Complete Kitchen which contained full size washer, dryer, dish washer, microwave, oven and hob and every piece of cutlery and crockery you could wish for. Tastefully decorated with a lovely bathroom. Only downside was that the 3rd person bed was a camp bed which was uncomfortable and inappropriate for an adult.
The Ascot Apartments are a part of the Ascot Hotel experience. They are a set of various apartments very close by the Hotel.
The main advantage is the space you occupy for just slightly more than the hotel rates. You enter from a separate door along the street and go to your apartment as would any other tenant in the building.
The room is an open living room, kitchenette and separate bedroom. Very relaxing space, but a bit spartan. Not anything to worry about though. The best feature is the location. It is very close walking distance to City Hall and beyond that the pedestrian mall. Tivoli Gardens and the Carlsburg Museum are just a ten minute walk. Same 10 minute walk to City Hall where you pick up most of the day tours.
Staff are good at the Ascot Hotel where you have your breakfast and check -in/out. Breakfast is fine. Nothing special, but enough to fill you up and get you out for the day.
