The lack of TV (although it is clearly in our listing) has gotten us several less than stellar ratings. Even so, we stand firm in our decision to keep TV out of both of our listings. It is our intention to provide a different kind of experience for our guests, one more like our families experienced growing up in the 80's and before, where attentiveness to one another, quiet, and nature were more commonly appreciated. The only TV in the house is a very small vintage one available to watch the vintage media that is provided. Our home has been recently updated, while still trying to keep a feel from the not-so-distant past. Enjoy the quiet neighborhood from the covered front porch, sunroom, or large rear deck from where the birds and small wildlife can be experienced. Experience the vintage books in every room. Large living room with piano and vintage media (CD's, VCR, cassette tapes, and records) and ways to play them. Board games and puzzles in dining room. Each bedroom furnished with it's own desk for study or reading. When we arrived there were two garbage can's outside, overflowing with stinky garbage. (Not sure if trash pickup was missed, but the smell was bad) The lawn was extremely long and overgrown. The listing stated a vintage tv, the tv was a small old tv with no way to connect to live TV, the listing should state "no live TV available", we were under the impression it was a TV with the ability to watch. They have many record albums with a turntable, but the turntable needs a needle. In the kitchen, old rusty pans with loose handles, the coffee pot had old water and a old coffee filter with grounds in in. The toaster did not work, without holding the handle down. There are no bath mats in either bathroom, dangerous getting out of tub, slippery. There was one old blow dryer in one of the bathrooms, there should be blow dyers in each bathroom. However, the rest of the house itself is described as vintage when it is simply old and desperately in need of updates. Two of the three mattresses are worn out and in need of replacement. The primary bathroom faucet is stuck on hot and coming apart. One of the tubs Is grimy and in need of a good scrubbing. The bedside light is terrible. And the house is overwhelmed by dusty bookshelves that need cleaning.We came expecting a turntable and records to enjoy. However, the needle was bad and we could not play any of the albums which were mostly old time gospel. It’s obvious not much has been done to it since the grandparents passed away who originally owned it. Finally, there were four outside dogs next door that barked incessantly. It would have been nice to have a tv (the lack of tv/cable might have been in the listing and I missed it). A bigger complaint is that one of the beds is extremely uncomfortable. We noticed that this had been mentioned in the guest book by several others. Finally, the most serious complaint was that the thermostat went out on the second day. We contacted the host at 9 am, heard from her around 11:30 and 2:00 but were not really informed on whether heat was back until 5 pm. I was quite nervous by that time, especially since the host had indicated in her message that she would keep us up to date and might change the lock code. I don’t mind the thermostat issue - that can happen to anyone. I was quite stressed about the communication. ##### Katherine T. It was a great venue to stay at. It's only an hour and a half away from Nashville so you can get to the city quickly and enjoy the city during the day and enjoy the small town during the night. The only thing you hear in the morning are the birds singing! Three comfortable and spacious bed rooms. Everything was clean. As we are caretakers of my Mom and I work at home. It was quite and it was easy access to town. For the most part it was clean and tidy. However I did have to clean the bathtubs.
