Very happy about my stay at Como Hotel. I was not sure looking at it on the internet and I cannot say any negative comment about the hotel, room and especially the staff. I even got a little breakfast bag on my way out because I was going to take an early train. Will definitely go back again!
We stayed 7 nights facing lake , five minutes from hotel you can go by boat to many places & boat every half hour to go to Como main square ( only 1 stop). Main square is full of shops, restaurants, bars etc. Boat also goes to other lovely places like Bellagio, Villa Carlotta etc.to see beautiful gardens & villas with admission fees. We found that apart from Reception desk staff & some restaurant staff, not many people speak English specially staff who issue boat tickets which made it very difficult to converse & delayed long queue. For tea lovers, suggest take tea bags with you as their tea is very weak & they drink lot of coffee, so plenty of varieties in coffee. Very nice place for holidays with lovely people, expensive shopping but v good quality clothes & shoes, food prices similar to UK. From hotel to railway station, go to Como by boat than 15 minutes walk with very stiff steps to reach St. Giovanni rly.stn. We were told buses also go from Como to St. GIovanni but some buses go to many places before it reaches Stn ( can take 1 hr) so check & go by direct route will be quicker. from St. GIovanni we went to Lugano for a day trip - again lots of shops but v.good Swiss chocolate - be aware not everybody takes Euro or if they take Euro it will be notes only, no coins & of course they give change in Swiss currency. We also went by Bernina Express train to Tirano - absolutely breath taking view with lots of beautiful scenery & photos, highly recommend this journey by train.

This hotel was within walking distance from the Como train station. It was located on a piazza with access to several restaurants and shopping close by. We received a upgrade when we arrived and stayed in room 404. It was on the top floor and had nice views of the town. This was the only hotel I stayed at while in Europe that actually gave you a top sheet on the bed versus just a duvet cover!! It you are looking for a quiet place to stay this is not the place for you. The piazza is a busy area with restaurants and shops. There is a bar nearby where people are socializing until late in the evening and you can hear all the noise from the street.
Good hotel close to lake and trains Buses good with pleasant staff and clean good breakfast All you need for a pleasant stay Not fancy but fits the average traveller Would certainly use again (Go for it)

This lakeshore town near the Swiss border has elegant parks and medieval buildings. It also has a busy industrial quarter based on silk manufacture, and is a fine place for shopping. A museum traces the history of Como’s textiles, which still supply the great fashion houses of Europe. Main sights are a handsome Gothic - Renaissance cathedral, and the Romanesque church of Sant’Abbondio, decorated with 14th-century frescoes.
