Experience the excitement of a sporting event or concert at this iconic stadium, which has hosted World Cup and Confederations Cup games.

Join the throngs of spectators as they cheer on their home team of Eintracht Frankfurt at the Commerzbank-Arena. The newly rebuilt stadium plays host not only to soccer games, but also to concerts and business events. It is a true slice of Frankfurt culture and a great place to feel the passion and energy of the city’s residents.

The Commerzbank-Arena opened in 2005 and is the newest incarnation of the legendary Frankfurt Waldstadion, which has long been a focal point of life in this part of Germany. The updated design is revolutionary, and the architecture impressive. Take a moment to process the astonishing facts: 5,200 pre-cast concrete segments were used in its construction, as well as over 2.8 million cubic feet (80,000 cubic meters) of concrete and 12,000 tons of steel.

The stadium can seat up to 55,000 spectators. It is a truly multifunctional arena with a unique design allowing it to be used for soccer, American football or concerts, without any pillars obstructing the spectators’ views. It cost a whopping €126 million ($146 million) to build. Look up to see the impressive signature feature which is the convertible-style roof which can slide over when it rains.

Join one of the guided tours to understand more about the architecture, or if your trip to Frankfurt doesn’t coincide with an event and you want to get a glimpse of the behemoth building. Tours last 1 to 2 hours and you can get the opportunity to see the dressing rooms, VIP facilities, press areas and the Eintracht Frankfurt Museum. Check the arena’s website for tour days and times and to book tickets.

Commerzbank-Arena is located in the south of Frankfurt, approximately 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the city center. Choose from a range of transportation options to get there including the S-Bahn, the train, the tram or the bus. There is also ample parking facilities for those arriving by car. Tickets for Eintracht Frankfurt games can be purchased on the arena’s website, or at the Fan-Shop at the arena itself.
