I had no reason to think I had to scour through every detail to discover otherwise. It's very deceptive! Hidden at the end of a long description and again at the end of a list of 131 amenities, it mentions that the owner lives on the property "in a separate wing of the house" which means the master suite. It is closed off with no deadbolt between their room and the rest of the house. A towel was stuffed under the door to try to muffle sounds, but this didn't work. We could hear their dog barking, their cell phone ringing, someone talking on the phone and their TV or device playing loudly, which could be heard very clearly from the kitchen and foyer area. I made a video for proof. They provided no key to lock up our belongings when we went into town, they claimed it was a secure, gated community. While my husband was at a conference and I was in the house alone, the owner opened the door without permission and yelled hello. We realized when this happened, that they also entered while we were at dinner the night before and turned on a lamp that was not left on and rearranged items on the kitchen Island. Vrbo's policy states that he must have permission or enter only in the case of an emergency or urgent maintenance. Neither was the case. My experience at this VRBO rental was truly terrible. I booked this home to celebrate my 40th birthday, with the owner’s explicit permission to host guests for the occasion. Unfortunately, the entire experience was ruined by the host's appalling and invasive behavior. First, the listing was misleading. It advertised three bedrooms, but there were only two. That was just the beginning. The owner \*entered the property without permission\* while my guests were inside, took photos of them while they were sleeping, and then began yelling at us to leave and kicked us out. It was a deeply disturbing violation of privacy and left us feeling unsafe. The host and his family actually \*live\* in the home, which was never made clear. The house was cluttered with their belongings, and the fridge and freezer were packed with their food. Instead of feeling like a vacation rental, it felt as though we were intruding on someone’s personal space. Throughout the stay, the host harassed me with stressful texts. Even after we left, he continued to badger me with messages. On top of this, he tried to extort extra money, demanding money per guest above what we had agreed on. I have written proof of our original agreement, but he blatantly lied and attempted to get more money after the fact. This host showed a complete disregard for privacy, safety, and decency. If you value any of these things, \*do not stay here\*. What should have been a beautiful birthday turned into a nightmare. ##### Bethiah S. The hosts were so accommodating and thoughtful. Our stay has EVERY comfort of our home; chilled and room temp bottled water, chocolate treats, muffins, cookies, bath robes, slippers, beach towels, quality shampoo, conditioner and body wash, plush blankets, laundry detergent and dryer sheets. It was pristine and had every kitchen appliance and spice possible. We cooked and entertained our local friends and the host made sure all the patio furniture was wiped down before their arrival. So thoughtful! The view was breathtaking, better than the photographs. I recommend this stay 1000%! I was not sure how it might be with the hosts on site, but we never really saw them and knew if we needed anything, they would be right there to help! It was wonderful! ##### Amber C. But, I had to take a few minutes to leave a review because our stay at Jay & Kathy's property was one we will never forget. When we arrived we were greeted by Jay and he took time out of his day to show us around and give us the tour. We were in awe of the hospitality they both gave us which was above and beyond either of us have ever experienced at a VRBO property. We were 2 professionals looking for a few relaxing days and I don't think we could have found a better property to achieve that. The home and grounds are immacutely cared for and designed to make you feel like you are at home. On top of having a beautiful place to stay, we made some new friends. They took us out on their boat, brought food and drinks and we had such a wonderful time visiting we went back to the house and invited them to sit out with us on the patio. I can't say enough about how wonderful our trip was and we will definitely be back! I know there are some comments about the owners living on a wing of the house. Let me assure you that they never once invaded our privacy but were always available if we ever needed anything which was so nice. It was an initial shock to the system that the owner's live and remain onsite as my search filter was set for full house but they were absolutely fantastic. Their home is beyond anything I could have hoped for and they stay in a separate area that is tucked away. The owner's gave us wonderful dinner recommendations and were delightful to interact with the few times that we did. All of us were able to truly relax and enjoy their cozy home with incredible views! There were a couple of things off on my phone's version of VRBO versus the website we discovered after our stay. For example, the check-in time was 4pm not 3pm. 3pm shows on the phone version. I suspect that is what led to the "whole house" confusion. But again, we would do it all over again and the owner's are fantastic! I truly feel like the owner's have done their best to disclose everything...VRBO issue? ##### Trish H.
